Hi Catriona and other members
Our first show is to be Warrnambool on 26-28 October and whilst they
have not officially cancelled their horse events (as they are waiting
for the official DPI ruling on 2 October) they have stated that they
are doubtful due to the financial expense of the Bio Security such as
at the Thoroughbred Racing.
As Warrnambool is the biggest show in our area the other societies
are waiting to see what they do. I am attending a Koroit show
meeting tonight to discuss their horse events and for us it is or has
been bigger than Warrnambool show.
The other problem holders of horse events face is if an animal
attends an event and has EI then everyone there must stay there for
the 5 weeks after the last animal is clear of the virus. The cost to
feed etc everyone and thing is meet by the event holder. This has
happen at Warrick where there have been some 160 competitors and
their animals.
I feel, as many others do, we are better off staying at home as who
wants a sick animal let alone lose a dear friend.
Stay safe.
Cheers
Kerrie
