AMBerners is a list that provides a private forum (restricted access) for people who are or have been caring for a Bernese Mountain Dog (BMD), a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (PBGV), or a dog of other breed or mix, suffering from Aseptic Meningitis (AM). Aseptic Meningitis is also known as Steroid Responsive Meningitis, Non-Septic Meningitis, Auto-Immune Meningitis, and sometimes it is equated with Neck Pain Syndrome and Nectrotizing Vasculitis.
If you have a dog currently suffering, or suspected to be suffering, from AM, I hope that this list will be able to give you the moral support that is so often needed when a precious member of your family is ill.
If you wish to join this list because you wish to share of your experience with this condition and/or because you are a veterinary professional and/or because you wish to do research on AM – WELCOME! Your membership is very important.
Please remember that any opinions posted on this list are only those of the individual member making the posting, and not those of the entire group of members, or of the list owner or moderator. Please do not treat anything that you read on this list as medical advice and do not let it replace the advice of your veterinarian.
I hope that you will be able to share your experiences freely and in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Please take a moment to post an introduction of yourself and your dog(s), particularly your AM dog. It is also very important that you familiarize yourself with the list rules.

STAR had AM a 9 month old. She contracted coccidiodomicosis 2 months after stopping the predinsone and battled that for 8 years and finally succumbed to metastatic lung cancer at age 9yrs 8mos. Star lived her life with great joy until the last few weeks. Kathy will miss her spirit, her happy barks and her quiet understanding. Star proved that there is life after AM.
