I am in the Southeast part of Georgia and love watching birds. A white
dove has taken up at our house, and I've noticed a green band around
one leg. It listens to me when I talk to it, and now when I walk
around on my deck, it follows me around...but it will not let me touch
it. I feel that this may be one that has been released, but is lost.
I don't know how to care for doves but it eats at our feeder (or below
the feeder where the seed falls. I've put out a pan of water as I've
read they love to take a bath (we have bird baths as well, but it
hasn't been in either of those). I put some hay in a box and set it
out on the deck hoping it would try it out (but not yet). It seems so
lonely and has never made a sound since taking up here. A beautiful
bird. Hopefully someone from Georgia will see this and give me
suggestions as to finding the owner, or maybe someone can tell me how
to get the bird to be more at ease with me so that I can care for it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
