Thank you so much for all the information. I've given "her" (I think, as she hasn't made a sound...and from what I've read so far, it is the male's that do all the cooing..or is that boasting hahaha), a temporary name of "Spirit" as it's just the most beautiful bird and so peaceful to enjoy.
Every nite, she leaves and goes somewhere else (my husband seems to think she is one that may have an owner close by and is allowed out to enjoy freedom during the day), but every morning, she is sitting in the same place, on our deck, enjoying the sun. I go out, sit on the deck and talk to her and she is very attentive to me. If she leaves now, I will be sad, but I sure have enjoyed her company and feeding her and giving her water has been my pleasure.
Thank you again. I never knew how wonderful birds could be at entertaining an old person, but she has sure done the job for me.
God bless and have a wonderful evening
Shelia

Hi Shelia, This years bands are green so it is likely a young homer. You can learn more on how to care for a lost pigeon at: http://www.npausa. com/found_ pigeon.htm Also it has info on how to read the band and links to all of the common banding clubs. Again, this is true. Well, with this info, I think that I will try to draw Spirit closer, and love her as much as I can...and...the mate idea is not so bad...
