Amazon Community Animal Rescue, Education Safety is part of a cultural shift in the impoverished river towns that line Perú's Amazon River. There was a time, not long ago, when people and children openly abused stray animals for amusement. While abuse and neglect still occur, more and more people protest. Amazon CARES has played a significant role in educating people, including children, of course) that humans are responsible for domestic animals. We bred them selectively as pets, and they depend on us. In return we receive many benefits, none of which I need to explain to members of this group!
As the only domestic animal welfare charity in the Amazon region, we provide free services to many remote Amazon areas. We are lucky to have donors, friends, and volunteers from around the globe.
