Good
Morning! I just wanted to make a quick update on the status here at
Skye’s Spirit Wildlife. We have 41 days left for our Double
Donation Challenge. At this time, we’ve received a little
over $500.00 in contributions. We have a long way to go to get to our
goal of $10,000.00 but I know we can get closer with the help of all our
Friends of Wildlife!
Here is one of
the newest intakes, a juvenile Beaver. This little one was found washed
up after heavy flooding a few months ago and unfortunately, wasn’t
brought to our center right away and now suffers from several problems.
She was kept out of water and only provided a bowl so her coat is in very bad
condition. She is also suffering from metabolic bone disease, luckily
caught in time so we can reverse it with good foods and a good calcium
supplement. She will be here quite a while and may end up becoming a
permanent resident for education though we’re unsure of her future
yet. We will give her all the time she needs.
We
have received several screech owls lately that have been hit by cars and also a
couple red tail hawks and great horned owls. We are getting in quite a
few songbirds still that are hitting windows, being struck by cars and also
caught by cats.
In this time of the year, we all look back and see what we have
to be thankful for and by far, I am thankful that I am able to keep helping
wildlife, that I have amazing friends and volunteers that help support this
center and my husband and kids who are always there for me. Many people
ask “when do you take a vacation, when is your day off, how much do you
make, how much does the state and federal government send to
help???” There is no vacations when animals need you 24/7, there
are no days off as the animals can’t go a day without care, and there is
no salary as the money has to go to help the animals first and many times
there’s not enough to even do that. We are not funded at all by the state
or the federal government. We only survive by the wonderful donations
from people like you! I have no regrets and will continue to stay hopeful
that we will be able to continue this journey. We’ve been caring
for wildlife here for 10 years!!!! YIPPPEEEEE…..I’m
looking forward to the next 10 years….AND BEYOND!
Thank
you everyone for your support and belief in Skye’s Spirit Wildlife and
seeing the need to help wildlife. They never ask to be hurt however when
you get to see them go back into the wild for a second chance….you know
they appreciate it with all they are. THANKS FOR BEING A PART OF THIS
JOURNEY TO SAVE WILDLIFE!!!
I

Urgent! I run a small rescue and feeding project in Vancouver. If the cats need

We just rescued 5 little German Shepherd Mixed Puppies after someone cruelly
killed their Mother. I wanted to get 5 Puppy Care Kits to give to their new
owners when we find them homes. Does anybody know where I can get any at? I have
tried unsuccessfully to locate any. I have found some in the past when we had
other puppies for adoption but I can't seem to locate any now. If anyone can
help me find some I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Lisa White

I am sending out a plea for 2 cats that wandered up to my mother's house recently. The 1st one is a siamese mix with blue eyes, his name is Sky and the 2nd is an orange tabby, his name is Tigger. Please, if anyone can help them, please contact me asap. My mother simply cannot afford to care for them.
Sky is a neutered male that is FIV positive. He is very affectionate. He was starving and near death when he arrived at my mom's house. After IV fluids, steroids, 2 rounds of antibiotics, and lots and lots of TLC he is finally on the road to recovery. Mom has been keeping him confined to a bedroom, but as he gets healthier and stronger, this is becoming less and less of a possibility. He meows constantly for attention, but mom cannot allow him into the rest of the house b/c she has a dog that loves to chase cats and she doesnt want to traumatize him. He needs to be kept indoors due to his fragile health. He would be a wonderful pet for
anyone that has a little time to give him some love.
Tigger is an unneutered male, but we will have him neutered as soon as he is stronger. He arrived about the same time as Sky, in even worse shape. He appears to have suffered some terrible abuse - is missing large patches of hair on his torso, tail, and top of his head. I do not believe this to be any type of communicable health issue - I believe it is the result of some type of abuse. He was afraid to get close to mom at first, but now allows her to pet him and he is turning out to be quite affectionate; so much so that even though he is starving, he turns away from food to rub against her legs and ask for a pet. He is not the most beautiful of cats, but I believe that he will repay any help he is given with an unending supply of love and gratitiude. His lack of beauty is because of what he has suffered at the hands of people, but his spirit is not broken. I have not had him vetted,
because he is just beginning to trust people, therefore I do not know his FIV/FELV status. I will be glad to pay something to a rescue if needed to help cover the cost of his neuter, testing, and vaccs, or I will have it done if needed. I just need a place for him to go. I do not think he will survive this winter in the condition he is in, although he is much better off than he was when he first arrived in September.
We are located just outside of Little Rock, AR. Please crosspost this email to anyone that may be able to help. Anyone that is interested in helping should reply to this email or call me at 501-303-8185. Thank you, Kelley Prichard
Dear Ellen: Here at TerraMau Sanctuary, we have had problems very much like this several times and the solution may be as simple as checking and cleaning the ears! We have two here that drain the tubes from the ears through the mouth when they get infections in their ears. Look in the ears to see if they are either dried out or have pus in them deep inside. If this is the case, you will have to clean the ears with mineral oil, then if they have pus in them, you might have to get some in the ear antibiotic drops like OTIC to treat the infection. When my little ones start doing just what yours is doing, acting like there is something stuck in the teeth, I automatically look in the ears! Hope this helps!!

Donations are needed for 4 rescued cats that really need to be checked out by a
veterinarian. They also need to be fixed in order to prevent them from
reproducing and adding to the pet overpopulation. These cats have lost their
original home through no fault of their own. We are trying our best to give them
a new start on life. If anyone can help us in our efforts to improve the lives
of these cats, monetary donations can be sent to the following address.

Tarboro, NC 27886
Any monetary donations will be used solely for the care of these cats. Also all
donations are tax deductible.
Thanks in advance for your support.

myopathy which allows him to move his legs but his leg muscles are too weak to
hold him. Won't you please Help Winky get a quarto wheelchair ( 4 wheels) and a
special net bed that will be therapeutic for him. He is receiving heat
treatments and physical therapy.

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD - WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
ok guys, I need help. I know this is a strange request, but I need toys! I know a family that isnt going to have a Christmas, and they have a little 5 year old girl, and 9 year old boy. The dad lost his job and month ago due to the economy, and the mom is making 7 bucks an hour. I want to make sure these babies have a good Christmas. They we're talking about Santa yesterday, and the mom started crying. Im heartbroken
I took my sweetheart doxie/cocker Lacey to the vet a few days ago, thinking she
came down with a urinary trac infection. But, after exam, and x-ray, vet
discovered a large stone in her bladder. I got terribly upset, now being on
low/disability income, as I could not afford the surgery to remove it. The vet
is thus trying another option. Putting her on S/D Canine Hill's canned dogfood,
and keeping her on an antibiotic thru it all. I was only able to pay for half
of the vet bill for that day, and now to try and keep her supplied with the
needed canned dogfood AND the antibiotic is a huge challenge for me. Lacey is
12. I adopted her from a shelter when she was a tiny puppy. I was working back
then and could afford such things as this then. On my present income any extra
bill overwhelms me. She looks like a standard size dachshund, and is a very
happy dog. If there is any help out there for Lacey's vet bills, PLEASE advise
me. She is spose to be re x-ray'd in about 3 weeks, to see if the stone is
dissolving or not. I do not want to put my dear companion down. She doesn't
deserve that because of my hardship. I even tried calling the Hill's company,
and they are only sending me ONE coupon, for $3.50 off on the canned dogfood
needed for Lacey. And I am trying to sell off stuff of mine. She is more
important to me than THINGS.
We could use some parrot sized cages, since hurricane IKE hit us here in San
Leon, TX some are not the best anymore. But we evacuated with all 100 birds.
Pet carriers for emergencies would be very useful to get them out in a hurry. We
are a non profit group that rescues abused, neglected parrots.
I know times are tough and budgets are tight. I know some people have to give up their pets because they can't afford to feed them. If you need some help, the Wisconsin Humane Society has a program to help you out. Here is the link, please check it out before giving up your pet! http://www.wihumane.org/services/petfoodassistance.aspx Thank you!
