Been a long time since I posted here. This is actually where we got the help for
a kitten we found in the yard, called Bella. Bella was adopted by the vet who
cared for her with the help of Loretta and Best friends. I have made some
amazing friends from this group. Bella made me so aware of the feral cats that
need help, and with my friend Loretta's direction who I have met from this
group, amazing things have happened. I cannot pet the Feral cats, but they will
rub up against me and come when I call them by name. I feed them and have put up
some shelters for them. I am still working on Spay neuter and release, but as of
yet, no luck in with any trappers. I have been told it is a legal issue, I could
be wrong. Anyway long story short, one of the Feral cats I call stripes is
standing off from me and has a very swollen neck. This cat I used to be able to
count every rib on her and up until today, she would come if I call her, purring
as she rubbed against me. I do not have finances to bring her to a vet or would
even attempt to trap her. I do the best I can. If there is a way to post a
picture. I just took several with the zoom.

We are in need of some dog runs and have found some but we are short on funds,
We need $750 to complete this, it would give us 13 complete eight foot dog runs
and two complete 5 foot dog runs. Sponsors could help.

"Mutts" comic strip creator to be keynote speaker at NJ Animal Welfare
Conference

Manville, NJ, March 6, 2013—MUTTS is "one of best comic strips of all time" said
the late Charles Schulz, creator of Peanuts. The creator of The Simpsons, Matt
Groening, stated "Patrick McDonnell's MUTTS is up there with Peanuts, Pogo,
Krazy Kat, and Calvin and Hobbes- cartoons that are smart and funny, brilliantly
drawn and full of heart." The Animal Welfare Federation of NJ (AWFNJ) is proud
to present Patrick McDonnell, the creator of MUTTS, as the keynote speaker at
the Annual Animal Welfare and Care Conference on Friday, March 22nd and
Saturday, March 23rd at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, NJ.

As a special bonus, Patrick McDonnell will be available to autograph Mutts books
purchased during the conference directly after his speech on Saturday, March 23.

One of the largest of its kind in the country, the Conference brings together
animal welfare professionals, volunteers and animal lovers for education,
training and networking opportunities to help people learn how to more
effectively help animals in their community and beyond.

The devastation of Superstorm Sandy in October 2012 impacted both human and
animal residents, as well as animal shelters and rescue groups. This year's
AWFNJ conference will offer a specialized full-day disaster preparedness track.

"We are pleased to include a special focus this year on disaster
preparedness/response," said Niki Dawson, AWFNJ President and County Animal
Response Team Leader. "The timing is right to both review the response to Sandy
and ensure that we continue to improve upon our ability to protect New Jersey's
animals during crises."
In addition to the disaster preparedness track that will be offered on Friday,
March 22 other workshop topics include:

• Simple Steps to Identify, Promote & Place Overlooked Cats
• How to Build and Grow your Foster House
• Medical Issues Disguised as Behavior Problems
• Shelter Enrichment
• Behavior Modification for Cats
• Reading Anxious Dogs and How to Address Their Behavior

World-renowned speakers from organization across the country, including Farm
Sanctuary, ASPCA, PetSmart Charities, and Humane Society of the United States,
as well as local organization such as Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary and
Philadelphia Animal Control, will share information about life-saving programs
that are helping homeless pets preparing for future disasters.
Animal shelter and rescue groups will send their board members, employees, and
volunteers, while animal lovers new to volunteering will also register to learn
how to be part of life-saving efforts and make a difference.

People can also help by making a donation to AWFNJ in support of the conference,
and businesses can enjoy the benefits of sponsorship and participate as
exhibitors, or feature their products in the conference's tricky tray.

York USA. Due to many requests to take in ferals who are in need of a safe
forever home I am in need of donations for fencing materials and maybe even a
new shed. We are in the process of applying for our 501c3 status which we
anticipate will be granted this year. If you can't make a donation, maybe you
can spread the word about our cause, every little bit helps. You will find more

Hi everyone -

Thanks for your interest re: Bailey. Bailey went for a second opinion today and got big news! The tumor, though baseball-sized, hasn't spread. The vet recommends removing the tumor within the week. Due to the volume of emails we've received about sweet Bailey, I wrote a blog post with details. Please share it with anyone who was interested in her. We are also raising funds for the surgery.

Hi Chelsea,

I saw an email from Fay with Delaware Valley GRR that they won't be able to help Bailey.  We're working on seeing if we can help.  In the meantime, I've cc'd a rescue friend/contact of mine, Libby Marquardt with Reach Out Rescue on this emai, to see if maybe she can help.  The problem with so many of us who use foster homes is that we have to ensure that dogs can live with other dogs since the majority of fosters have dogs of their own.

Hi Mary,

Brittany Brownfield suggested I email you.  I'm with Dog Bless, the volunteer group at Kanawha-Charleston shelter in Charleston, WV.  A senior Golden girl came to the shelter last week.  She has an abscessed tumor, which we've since learned is advanced breast cancer.  She has a good quality of life for now, and our vet agrees that isn't not yet time to PTS.  She's happy, friendly and loves human affection.  She is on the small side for a Golden, and rides well in the car.

We moved her to a foster home locally but she isn't getting along with the dogs there.  Since Lord knows where she came from (and judging by her condition, it wasn't anywhere loving), we'd like to make her last days her best.  Is there any chance you can help?  Her name is Bailey.

Thanks!

Sweet Bailey needs a hospice foster. She has what equates to advanced breast cancer, and treatment is unlikely to help. For now, she has a good quality of life. Loves human affection and is very friendly. She would prefer to be in a home without other dogs.

We don't want Bailey to suffer, but our vet agrees that she still has some good days left. With the neglect she has experienced, these are likely to be the best days of her life. Can you help?

Email dogblesswv@... to be the love of Bailey's life.

Just wanted to say I support any effort to eliminate spam but there seems to be a big problem with certain email addresses being hacked or hijacked right now.

Yahoo addresses seem to be the worst .

I hope you do not remove people since the only cure for this is the person needs to clear up their email problem and blocking the address really does not stop it.

HELP the rescued animals of APAM

A new pledge from the cause

HELP the rescued animals of APAM

HIT BY TRAIN!!

Posted by Cristina Zuba (cause founder)

It starts with you

Take the Pledge

An incredible story of a dog with her legs cut off and her soul thorn in pain, touched us till tears! Xena was abandoned on a piece of cartoon in the train station, full of blood and with her legs thorn apart! When our help was asked, we thought how will we be able to manage?! We have our daily work and beside that we have over 100 animals in our care! Xena is now with 2 legs, on the same side, she needs special care like many others from our sanctuary, but we could not refuse to help her! We know that Xena needs us very much and someone is giving us a lot of work power and lot of energy to help these innocent souls! We don't know yet how Xena will be: if she'll be able to walk or she'll need an prosthesis or a special cart, WE DO KNOW only that no matter the situation we'll love her and care for her for the rest of her life if necessary. As we believe and we saw so many miracles, maybe for Xena also there is someone there who will adopt her and offer her a great life! For the ones who will come with the advice to put her to sleep, we ask you from our souls, please don't! APAM sanctuary has in care animals with 3 legs, with 2 legs, epileptic, blind…we have in our care animale waiting for a family for 14 years, we put NO animals to sleep, we let God decide their faith and we fight for each soul like it is our child! Within the following period it is very likely to be necessary for Xena to have several surgeries, her general condition is a stable one and Xena is a dog who wants to live! Any help, no matter how small it is, help us enormously! Thank you!

I have never asked for any help on this site but things are tough like it is for
everyone. I run a small rescue in central Missouri (S.A.R.G) currently have 31
cats and 6 dogs. The problem is since so many were dumped on my yard I am having
a rough time paying the spay/neuter bill and vacc. I am still able to provide
food, and basic medication. As we all know cats are hard to adopt out and I know
within the next month I will have 6-8 dumped again. If anyone can or would
donate some some to the Vets that I owe. Please, send me a e-mail and I will
give you the address, amount owed etc. I work with 2 vets and we have a wonderful
low cost spay/neuter clinic that helps me a lot. Aside from my own I have spayed
and neutered other peoples animals (knowing that they wouldn't). This is a small
rural town so as far as donation that is very limted. I am the only one running
everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I am a volunteer at a very small town humane society rescue group.Called Twin
County Humane Society. We are approaching flea and tick season and the funds
just aren't there. Being from a very small community donations barely trickle in
. we have up to 50 puppies and dogs at a given time some being with us up to a
month in time until we find another larger rescue group to take them and
transport them to larger more heavily populated areas, but until then we are
faced with huge bills especially with flea and tick medications. Any donations
or help with this approaching problem will be greatly appreciated. Once you
reply I will give you the direct contact information for the Twin County Humane
Society or you can look for them on facebook . They have a donate button on
their page along with address & phone number. we also could use donations of
either used or new plastic dog houses. we have 15 stalls and not nearly enough
dog houses/beds for them all. Thank You in advance for any help you can offer.

ANIMAL CRUELTY - INTENTIONAL ABUSE of CESAR - PLEASE HELP HIM!

Cesar is a beautiful, innocent 2 yr old pitbull who is as sweet as they come. Sadly, Cesar is a victim of animal abuse. While Cesar was tied to a chain, an individual intentionally struck Cesar with an object, most likely a 2x4. In doing this, Cesar's leg was badly fractured. Cesar was screaming in pain when animal control arrived to rescue him.  Animal cruelty charges were pressed against the individual that hurt this innocent animal.  Unfortunately, animal control does not have the funds to treat Cesar's injuries so euthanasia was the only option.  The local volunteer group, Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society, was contacted & immediately had Cesar transferred to West Hills Vet Hospital where he underwent surgery to repair the fracture & put pins in his leg to hold his bone together.  Despite the vicious abuse he has suffered, Cesar remains sweet & gentle.

At this time, Cesar's vet bill is well over $1000 and rising fast due to pain medications, antibiotics & intensive post-operative care. PLEASE HELP CESAR by donating to cover this bill.  Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society is called upon almost daily to help the sick & injured animals at the Vance County Shelter as the only hope to save them.  They will be unable to help future sick and injured animals if donations aren't received. We are pleading for your help!

Please donate online at this link: http://fnd.us/c/fSj03
or by Paypal to: rcapspaypal@...
Donations can also be made by calling West Hills Vet Hospital 252-438-7163

CONTACT: VanceShelterResq@... to offer rescue for this poor boy once he is healed.
Cesar is located in Vance County, Henderson, NC

Hello everyone,

A feral colony in Middle River, MD has been the target of uncaring property manager who has hiring a company to trap and kill them all.  We need to relocate them to a farm but the farm requires $100 per cat (to pay for food and vet updates).  All cats are being vetted at our expense but we don't have enough money to cover the costs of the farm fee.

Please help us, any amount is greatly appreciated.

Please crosspost for our cause.

Subject: No help yet for Shepherd x girl in Baltimore... desperate :( $150 in pledges -- only has two more days...

Can anyone please, please help this girl? She currently has $150 in donations pledged towards her care. The person who found and cared for her is now going to be homeless on Monday and this girl has to go. Baltimore shelters are full. This is supposed to be a nice girl, good with kids/dogs. I do not know any medical details about her. If we can get a rescue I have someone to pick her up (if he can do so safely) and I will beg for a temp foster until we can get her vetted for transport (if she needs to go north).

If this woman is legit, she is trying to do the right thing for this dog and is getting no help at any turn. I don't make a habit of trying to help out individuals but she reached out to me and I can't ignore this dog. If ANYONE can help PLEASE email me at erinsilks@... (@yahoo.com). I have a driver ready to go get her tomorrow... but I can't do that without rescue.

Thanks for considering her. Bella deserves another chance.

PHYL

Remember the Walmart family of dogs who were living on the streets for a year. First we got the puppy , then the momma in Jan of this year. She was pregnant again and we vetted and adopted all the puppies and the momma. But so sadly, we couldn't catch the male and he was running around mourning the loss of his companion. After a year of trying, the male was just caught. We have him in a foster, but he is very ill and will need a blood transfusion. We are trying to save his life. The bill so far has been $550 and that is without the transfusion.   We never gave up on him. The woman feeding him, never gave up, she fed him everyday in hopes of gaining his trust. Please help us follow through with him.

Below is Papa. One of the homeless men living around the shopping center smashed a rock into his eye saying that it wasn't fair that people were feeding the homeless dogs and that we should be feeding him instead. This is such a tragedy on every level, but at least  we have a chance to help Papa.

PLEASE CROSSPOST URGENT DOGS - NO CRAIG'S LIST OR SIMILAR SITES! - Open Tues - Sat... You can begin to call ~8:30am, 304-253-8921 .

**Please DO NOT contact the shelter about the gassing! It only makes them not want to work with rescues and is counterproductive. It is not the shelters fault. The shelter has no say in what form of euthanasia is used...that's chosen by their municipality, not the shelter.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you from the Regional Animal Shelter in King William, VA. We are a rural shelter that services 2 counties, King William and King & Queen. We only have 20 dog kennels and these 2 counties are 2 of the longest counties in Virginia. We usually get a wide variety of dogs and cats here at our shelter. A little over half of our dogs are Beagles or Hounds that have likely been dumped after hunting seasons. Unfortunately when space runs out, we do have to euthanize. We try everything we can so that animals will not have to be put down, including pairing up dogs in the kennels, advertising on Petfinder.com, etc. We have been extremely successful in the past few months, with having a record of animals leaving successfully in January! We have only been open about 3 ½ years.

I am always looking for new rescue groups to register with us, whether to cross-post for us or actively participate in transferring dogs from our shelter. We currently have over 40 groups registered with us, some of those being breed-specific. Would your group be interested in registering with us for future reference, or possibly accepting animals at this time? Please feel free to take a look at our website http://www.kingwilliamcounty.us/animal_shelter.html for further information.

Thanks for your time!

Heather
