This movie not only falsely portrays wolves as killers of men, when in fact they are the victims of men, but according to THIS article, the producers paid a trapper to provide four dead wolves for the movie. Two were used as "props," and the other two were used as food for the actors.

"Just before filming started, director Carnahan wanted Neeson and the rest of the cast to sample wolf meat as a way of getting closer to the movie's story of wilderness survival."

Wolves have been demonized throughout history, and this is another shameful betrayal.

If you thought SOPA and PIPA were bad, let us introduce you to their Big Brother, ACTA.
 
The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, which has already been signed by several countries, poses a dangerous threat to the inherent freedom and openess of the Internet. Under ACTA, ISPs and websites will be given more power to track what we do online, while forcing them to turn over our information and reporting our activity to the authorities -- all in the name of copyright protection! While we respect the rights of creators, ACTA's ill-conceived provisions will have chilling effects on free speech everywhere.
 
The European Parliament still has to approve ACTA for it to go into effect around the world. If they vote NO, then ACTA will be effectively dismantled -- even in countries that have already signed it. We helped bring down SOPA and PIPA, now let's turn the fight to ACTA. Call on the EU Parliament to take a stand and vote “NO” on ACTA!

Stop the annual slaughter of bobcats in NY for the foreign fur market
 
As a NYS taxpayer I am outraged and appalled to learn of the DEC plan to increase the numbers and areas where bobcats can be hunted and killed. The bobcat is an important member of our natural community and should not be killed for sport or for their fur. The hunting and cruel slaughter of this magnificent animal is objectionable to most animal lovers and NYS residents and endangers many other animals including household pets who get caught in the cruel traps set by hunters.  This is the 21st century and there can be no justification for this barbaric and inhumane treatment of our wildlife.

Transcript:  The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is proposing a 5-year plan that would greatly EXPAND the hunting and trapping of bobcats within the state.

The new plan would DOUBLE the annual number of bobcats that hunters and trappers can kill and would also open up vast new areas of the state that previously were off limits for hunting and trapping.

According to DEC, the proposed five-year plan will "provide sustainable use and enjoyment of bobcat by the public." How can the killing of innocent animals be deemed enjoyment?


Trappers and hunters kill more than 500 bobcats annually in New York alone. And now they want to double that number to 1000! Prized as trophies, many bobcats are stuffed by taxidermists and sold to collectors. But far more are killed for their pelts, which sell for $50 to $200 each. And often these pelts are exported outside of the U.S. and dyed to look like ocelot pelts in order to make even more money for the trappers and hunters!

Dave Miller, the executive director of the New York State Trappers Association, which has about 1,700 members, has been quoted as saying, "We are pretty excited about this" proposed expansion of bobcat trapping.

We need YOU to let New York DEC know that you dont support the killing of bobcats, and are appalled that they are considering this plan to expand such a cruel, inhumane and unnecessary practice! Dont let bobcat trappers and hunters be the only voices on this issue that DEC hearsplease speak up and be a voice for these cats!

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to politely complain about the sale of real fur by your company. The fur industry is responsible for horrific cruelty to animals and has been exposed in both past and recent times by undercover investigation teams in many countries.

Every year, around 50 million animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, mink, foxes and more are killed for their fur, 85% of which are factory farmed.
These animals will be torn for their mothers and kept in insolation or packed with others into dirty cages, suffering physically and mentally.
When animals are trapped in the wild, the devices will often break their bones and tear into flesh tissue, holding an animal for any number of days in utter agony before finally a trapper finds them, unless they die before-hand.
The slaughter methods used by this industry are completely barbaric, animals are either skinned alive or suffer painful anal electrocution.
Some are beaten to death.

Fur production was banned in the UK back in 2000, and clothing made with real fur is widely unaccepted by the British public because of the horrific cruelty to animals it entails. Nowadays there is faux fur available, which can look no different to real fur but there are no animals exploited in the process.

I hereby wish to urge your company to release an official statement and sign a fur-free policy that your company will permanently no longer sell any real animal fur. I will be boycotting Flannels and informing everyone I know about your company supporting the cruel fur industry until you do so. Please join almost every clothing store in the UK whom have already taken the compassionate choice in being fur-free.

This anti-fur video was made in Norway in 1977 by a Norwegian filmmaker named Bredo Greve.  Unfortunately, it was never shown or publicized.  Now the www.Filmjunkiene.no are doing a documentary on this filmmaker so they have posted this video for the first time.  It has lots of scenes filmed right inside of a fox farm.

Dear Sirs,

According to news sources, the city of Windsor, Ontario, is considering trapping and killing unwanted skunks who live in the city.
The council has already allocated funds for this cruel plan, and now it's just sorting out the details!

Killing skunks won't work to control populations and will backfire. The spike in the food supply will prompt remaining animals and newcomers to breed at accelerated rates, meaning that the skunk population will increase!
Lethal methods are also extremely cruel, tearing families apart and leaving young animals vulnerable to death by starvation or dehydration.
Not only trapped animals are not drowned but neither are they euthanized humanely.

Therefore I urge the Windsor officials to toss your skunk-eradication program and stick with effective, humane wildlife control measures instead.

Subject: Stop the plans to massacre animals by injecting them with chemicals
 
Dear Sir/Madam,

I was horrified to learn of the plans to dispose of animals by injecting them with chemicals and subjecting them to a brutal death as part of the decontamination work.
These animals have already endured severe lack of food and freezing winter weather after being abandoned and left to die.

It is shameful that the government did not rescue these animals from the beginning of the disaster, but this barbaric treatment of the animal victims and survivors is inexcusable.
It is your obligation to ensure that the animals have been given a fair chance to be rescued instead of sealing off the town.

I ask that the town officials immediately put a stop to these plans for a massacre and instead supply relief goods in form of food and medical care, and expand the relief work by allowing animal rescue groups and volunteers to enter the exclusion zone and rescue as many animals as possible.
