Hi everybody !
I'm totally new to the aquarium culture and would greatly
appreciate help from all those who can help me . I'm planning to set
up a new tank, size length 42, width 15 and height 18 inches.
That makes it about 49 gallons . I've also made a list of fishes. Can
somebody please tell me if all these fishes are available in Mangalore ?
Thanks everybody !

Hello all, I am new to ASK, I been with aquarium hobby for a while, I am looking for information on pellets...last time I bought a nice pellets at shivajinagar... I don't remember shop name!!
( half kilo was 120rs: made from dried worms, fish, yolk and other products ) the owner said they got that from Kerala or something...
Similarly Amity used to sell half kilo packets( at throw away price 50rs ),
intially when they came to Bangalore, I am looking for such nice pellets
( which dont cloud water or sinking pellets) at affordable price.

I have Iridiscent Sharks. I guess, i have very bright lights now.
Will change them soon.
These sharks had white spots all over them recently, and i managed to
treat them with "White Spot" medicines. Now they are fine after three
days. But, my Angelfish have stopped using their Pectoral fins and I
read on the net that its a symptom of "Fin Rot".
Now, i am not able to get any information on how to treat this now and
what exactly is the root cause for this. PLease let me know if you
have seen this problem before.

Hi
Mitra ! Thanks for the reply. It helpd mee calm my nerves !!! Its been over a week since I had the AngelFish, and they are now out in the open, swimming freely !!
I have another short query: The couple of sharks i have, hide below the filter or under any "shade" if i switch on the lights. They move around freely in the dark. Should i provide some covering, so that the lights don't prick the eyes (i guess that is what is troubling them...) But, i see most aquariums just have a bulb and no covering over it. any suggestions on this ?!

Hello sunil,
Its common for the angels to take some time (rather a long time actually) to
get adjusted to the tank. They stay in one corner till they get adjusted. No
worries.

Hi,
I recently set up an aquarium with following details:
Mostly Sand and lot of pebbles.
4 well grown plants
One big submersible Filter
One Air pump
I used Bore well water and let it stand for over a week.
Today, i introduced a pair of Angel Fish in it and i saw them get into
a corner of the aquarium and never moved out of it. It doesn't make
any big movements and just keeps swimming only in the corner. After
about 3 hours of putting in the Angel fish, I also put a pair of Shark
fish and they seem to be moving well around the place.
Is this a normal behaviour of the Angel fish or is there anything wrong ?!
Regards,
SUnil

Hi Friends.
Thanks for all those responses on Stress Zyme.
I want to setup my fish tank which is of size 2' X 1' X 1'.
I think it comes to around 40 - 50 litres which is 10 gallon tank.
please correct me on this.
I used to have this tank when i was in school and i was sucessfull
in keeping the fish alive for long.
I could also breed guppies but could never raise those fries
successfully.
And I always thought i am good at this hobby till i started reading
about this hobby on net and on the books.
I now realise all the mistakes that i did as a kid.
Though my fish tank was closed long ago and was lying on the loft of
the house...my urge never died and now i want to start it all over
again.
I remember the angels in my tank grew very well ( thats what i
thought) and now also i wish to grow angels again.but this time i
not only want to grow them but most importantly i want to breed them.
This "breeding" BUG which has bitten my badly.but i am told by
couple of experts that it will be difficult for angels to breed in a
10 gallon tank.
So my question is
What "Egg Bearers" would all you experts recommend for 10 gallon
tank and to a enthusiasts like me who is not beginer nor an expert.
I desperatly want to see those little fries in my tank...be it any
species..:-)
Thanks
Rohan
Hi Rohan,
Its useful when setting up a new tank. I think its
priced around 400 though.

Hi Rohan!
Welcome to the gang.
An easier way to get the "friendly bacteria" to get
working is to leave your tank without the fish to "set
for a week" This would get the cycle started.
One more way would be to get a filter sponge from a
"running aquarium" and use the same in your tank.
Stress-zyme is nothing but cultured bacteria which are
bottled up for easy use :-)
It has a expiry date... be sure to have a look.
My purely personal opinion is that Rs.600 is just to
much to pay for a bottle of Stresszyme (Unless it is
500 ml or more). Best would be not to use it. Have
some patience and introducing some plants in your tank
would also help.

Hi Pals,
Yesterday I visited one of the LFS here where in he offered to sell a
concotion called "Stress Zyme" .
he said it helps up speeding the creation of bacteria and thus the
Cycling Time.
Is it really needed and if yes...is it fair enough to pay Rs 600 for
that ?

hi guys.
I am a new member of this group.
Feels good to find like minded people and to read through this sea of

any hobbyists from Pune / mumbai in this group ?
Maybe those pals can share more info about good LFS or such relevant
stuff in pune.
Thanks

I do not have a fish breeding facility but thought a couple questions may help you.
Where are you located?
Is there a local market for you?
Are you looking to sell internationally?
If so make sure you have places that are willing to buy from you unless you want to market them yourself through an online auction house, ads on websites, or magazine advertisements in aquarium magazines.
Good luck in your endeavor.

Dear Sir,
I now have fish for more than two and half years. The fishes that I have got are angle fish, koi fish, gold fish, red cap, rainbow shark, molly and doller fish. I have seen some breeders though not breeding on large scale, they have had two small rooms in which they were breeding fishes. I want to set up first such type of breeding rooms. I want to start it in Mumbai. If I could do well I would love to set up a large farm

Dear consultant
Very difficult to trace you, rang up a couple of times, but talked to your
mother or nobody at all.
Timing is very inconvinient (after 8 in th e night ) as though i am a student,
mother / wife roles put me in my place ( THE KITCHEN) at that unholy hour
..could we fix another time, more accessible , that is if the fishes are still
there !!!?
Saw Kumble in Harry Potter movie theater (freebie given by stan cha)
Have a nice day / night . UVCE are on strike ....ego problems / separation of
the department ...
regards

Hi,
I've put some Amazon Swords on the aquarium. I'll try and get Cabomba. (to
keep my guppy fry alive)
By the way what's the difference between foxtail and Cabomba?
Also,
i'm just getting my cement pot ready.
It's quite big.
To be more specific it's the ring that is used in wells.(with my
modification)
Is it a good idea to put some angels in it??(to breed)
or sshould i put em in my aquarium and shift the guppies to the pot??
Warm Regards(i won't use chill cause it's summer)
