Description

Red was in a home where the man decided he didn't want Red anymore, so took him out and shot him in the head, left him for dead.
Red showed back up at home a week later, and the husband told the wife it looked like a rattle snake bite. The wound was open, but the vet treated it as a snake bite with antibiotics since there was no venemous reaction.
A week later the husband left. The wife couldn't handle four kids and the dog, so she took Red out to the woods AND SHOT HIM TWICE IN THE CHEST.
Laurie, who has the dog now, received a call from a neighbor, who knew the dog had been shot. Laurie went over and fed watered them every day for another week, waiting for the woman to come home. When it became evident they weren't coming back, she took the dogs to her home.
She took him in yesterday to have his head wound looked at because it was infected. The vet did surgery (neutered him at the same time) and found a CREASE in his skull where the bullet went in. There were two bone fragments, floating in the skull. The bullet followed a trajectory from the top of the head to just next to the left eye where it exited.
She will nurse him back to health and hold him while I find a home. He will need a LOVING family with patience and understanding. He initially growled loudly while he gulped his food, and growled at her daughter who has long curly blonde hair like the nasty owner who shot him. Now he LOVES his new people and doesn't growl or gulp food. This poor boy had every reason to hate and distrust humans after his terrible ordeal. But, as amazing as dogs are, he has forgiven the human race and wants to live a happy life.
Shot THREE TIMES and lived.
This boy really does deserve a chance in life.
Please take a look at poor Red, and send good thoughts to him. I hope I can find the right home for him.

Terri
