Subject: [MNanimalrescue] Euthanasia Best Option? [2 Attachments]
[Attachment(s) from Kitra Nelson included below]
Hey everyone... Of course as rescuers our #1 goal is to avoid euthanasia at all costs and get animals to rescues where they can be responsibly rehomed, and we work really hard to do that. However, sometimes there are no rescue spots available, especially recently and especially for hard to place dogs (and cats). In the case of our animals here they are then shot to death, and that is no way to go. When is it more kind to have an animal humanely euthanized? For instance, in Rascal's case (photos attached) he is a 2 year old friendly, nice, handsome unneutered male pitbull- already hard to place, and in the climate of rescue in our area right now nearly impossible. His owner already killed one of their other dogs a few days ago by shooting her 3 times in the face. That will be Rascal's fate also as I have had no luck finding him a rescue. He has nowhere to go. Should this dog be humanely euthanized? I never thought I would have to do something like this, but is it not better for him to be euthanized with a kind person there petting and whispering kind words to him than to have a jacka$$ murder him? When the situation is hopeless, what is the best choice???
