In this situation i would bring a second horse up and tie it with hay
nearby for a number of sessions. It seems to diffuse the situation so the
horse can get more comfortable with new information. later i might still
have to work as previously described but it wouldn't be as 'dramatic'.
> Is this against the ideaology of billsbook? i try to find the simplist
and less stressful solutions, but am interested if there is any reasoning
that would make them not the best.
Molly,
If it feels the best thing to set your horse up to succeed by having
another there, then that's fine. If it is just you taking an easy option,
knowing you may still have to work on it later, only you can decide if you
are doing best by your horse. There is no right or wrong here, just an
option with some consequences, another option with another set of
consequences........... and it will vary from horse to horse, human to
human, day to day. Experiment and explore. Because that is what our
horses do in order to understand our requirements.
Regards
Fiona
