Hi everyone,
It has been a sleepy summer as far as legislation is concerned.
Things have started picking up in the past few weeks and good things
are happening!
A few Important Announcements!
Representative McKinley and Senator Brophy are our sponsors this year!
We are very excited to have Rep. McKinley back because he did such an
incredible job educating and promoting the bill last year. We are
also thrilled with Senator Brophy's acceptance! I received a follow-
up call from him yesterday and he said he would be "honored to
sponsor us in the Senate". Senator Brophy was our first choice
because of his clear understanding of the bill (which I will upload
today) and strong ability to negotiate on our behalf partly due to
his veterinary and agricultural relationships. We are very lucky to
have such a strong team this year in Representative McKinley and
Senator Brophy! Please send them an email of thanks and consider a
donation to their campaigns which can only be made before December
15th.

Please contact me, Lisa Speaker, lisaspeaker@..., and I will
be happy to set-up a quick training session for you and meet you at
the capital. We need as many faces down there as possible this year
lobbying on behalf of our bill.

Association Support
If you belong to an animal organization or association, as a member,
you can ask them where they stand on this issue and urge them to take
publicly supportive. Examples of organizations: Colorado Quarter
Horse Association, CO Horse Council, CO Humane Society, DDFL,
MaxFund, Cattleman's Association, Catlewoman's Association, Animal
Rescue or Protection Groups, Colorado Racing Association, etc.....you
get the idea. If you have any connection to these or any other
organization you think may be helpful please let me know at
lisaspeaker@...
Colorado Horse Council Annual Business Meeting is Sunday, Nov. 18th
at Red Lion Hotel, 1975 Bryant Street, Denver. I will be speaking as
a CO Horse Council Member at the end of the meeting about the bill.
If you are a member please attend to either listen or even say a few
words!

CVMA Support
The draft of the bill made its way to the CVMA conference a couple of
weekends (or was it last weekend?) ago. The general response has been
supportive. I have also received support from several veterinarians
whom I have spoken with personally. I am meeting with Ralph Johnson,
CVMA Executive Director in a couple of weeks to discuss the bill and
see if the CVMA can publicly support our endeavor this year.
Thank you for your support and involvement. I look forward to hearing
from you!
Lisa Speaker,
CAAOR President
