Introducing new cat to resident dogs   Message List

I would like some advice on introducing a new kitten to resident dogs.
I have been crating my one dog giving the kitten room to explore but I
am concerned that the kitten is a little too interested in the dogs. I
have a large Akita that she is interested in and the kitten seems to
want to stalk him. Her unusual interest in him has me concerned
because although he is behind a child's gate, she tries to climb it.

I owned a cat before but had to put her down due to cancer. The dogs
lived in seperate parts of the house from the cat and they respected
her territory. However, with this kitten she climbs the child gate and
can wander all over the house so right now she is confined to her
ownroom. The dogs are indoors on extremely hot days, rainy days and at
night.

I don't have a problem keeping the animals seperate but would like the
cat to be in the room when I am around at night.

Thanks

D.
