Welcome to Cat Tails "Mini Mews"!

Special greetings to our new subscribers.  Thanks so much for
subscribing.  Mini Mews is an abbreviated version of our regular
newsletter and is sent every other week. It's designed for those
busy schedules to give you a quick dose of fun on a shorter list
of kitty-related subjects. 

Please help us spread the word about Cat Tails and encourage
other cat lovers to subscribe!  When you forward newsletters, we
ask that you send them in their entirety with a personal note so

This week's Mewsings puts everyone in proper perspective.  :)

We have another adorable series of pictures today.  You may have
seen these because several of you, and others, have sent them to
me.  I loved looking at them each time, and thank each of you
for sharing them.  However, you may not have seen this version
with captions.  I don't know who is responsible for them.  If
you have any information on the originator, please let me know. 
So cute!

Cat Nips has a funny story, especially the "extra credit."

Sometime ago, subscriber Mike Coppi sent me a bunch of cat jokes
and I am finally beginning with three of them at The Tail End. 
I published similar ones years ago, but some clever person since
has been busy writing more.  Again, I don't know the author(s).

          Weekend Assignment #174: Humiliate your pet!


I had originally received Elliott as a gift for my 6th birthday
and instantly fell in love with him.  I had to settle on the
name Elliott, because my dad overruled my original choice of
"ET."

I am extremely sad to say that after 19 wonderful years with my
friend, we had to end his suffering peacefully after he
developed a painful cancer.

There are a few funny stories that I can think of off the top of
my head, but I consider this one to be the best.

My parents rarely did home improvements and the ones they
actually got around to, they did themselves.  I can't remember
the year exactly, but they decided to lay new kitchen linoleum.
95 percent of the work was done without incident, however, when
my mom got to where the floor met the door frame, she had to
back half of her body out of the door onto the stairs to slather
the glue.

As she exposed her butt to the elements, the door opened and the
cat came racing into the house.  With feline grace, he leapt
high over the rest of her body, making a perfect landing
directly in the adhesive that had already been laid.

Elliott stopped, looked around, shook his paws, proceeded to
freak out and then managed to jump right out of the kitchen back
into the crisp fall night before anyone could catch him.

The really humiliating part of the entire story was that my
father had mowed the lawn not 5 hours before the incident.  We
didn't see Elliott until the next day when he would walk across
the back yard, take two steps and stop, shaking each paw.  His
new grass booties were quite fashionable but apparently very
uncomfortable.

Yes, we did manage to get the grass off his paws after we caught
him.  I think he was actually grateful for the bath.


Extra Credit:

Neighborhood Cat #1 - "Hey Elliott!  Nice boots!  You bringing
back the 70's with that shag?"

Elliott:  "You know, didn't I just beat the crap out of you a
few days ago?"  *shakes front paw*

Neighborhood Cat #2 - "You know, grass skirts are supposed to go
around your waist!"

Elliott:  *shakes back paw*  "When I get this crap off of me,
you are both going down.  Hard core."

Female neighborhood cat - "Looking sexy there, Elliott.  I love
originality, you know.  Meet me behind the well in about five
minutes and bring that sexy footwear.  *winks*

"Uh oh!  It looks like your human is coming to get you!"

Elliott:  "Wait.  No!!!  Gimme 6 minutes!  Please!"


Yes.  I think he was mortified.
