Welcome to Cat Tails "Mini Mews"!

Special greetings to our new subscribers.  Thanks so much for
subscribing.  Mini Mews is an abbreviated version of our regular
newsletter and is sent every other issue.  It's designed to give
a quick dose of fun on a shorter list of kitty-related subjects,
for those busy schedules. 

Please help us spread the word about Cat Tails and encourage
other cat lovers to subscribe!  When you forward newsletters, we
ask that you send them in their entirety with a personal note so
they will know the mailings came from you.  Purrrrrs.....

      This newsletter is best viewed in a fixed-width font.

It took three weeks to get my new computer because of schedule
conflicts, and I am still downloading programs and resetting all
the software I use, intermingled with and interrupted by work
that has to be done.  Getting a new computer is a real hassle
for those us who use many different programs, but a necessary
inconvenience, for sure. 

Needless to say, I am way behind on reading and answering mail,
but thank you for writing.  I will answer you during next week.


This week's Mewsings is another "I Am Your Cat," as promised
last time.  I hope you enjoyed it and will find this one as
meaningful.  It certainly brought tears to my eyes.

Cat Nips has links to interesting information on "Be Kind To
Animals Week," which begins today (May 4).

Be sure to scroll all the way to The Tail End because there is a
link to a great sleep aid, if you don't already have one, or,
more likely, it doesn't perform on cue.

                          I Am Your Cat

        This was written in 1983 in memory of the author's
        Blue Persian, Leilani.


Do not think of me as an object to bring you fame in the show
ring.  My most prized trophy is a gentle touch from you.


Do not expect from me a new family of babies every four months.
I love my little ones and want them with me so I may teach them
and play with them for many months as a good mother should.


Do not keep me confined in a cage.  I am a free spirit.  Let me
live with you in your home!


Do not think of me as unknowing, uncaring or an independent
being, for I need you.


Accept me as I am, care for me and be my friend, and I will give
to you in return:

A soft touch of my paw on your cheek when you are troubled;

A companion when you are lonely;

A clown when you are depressed;

A trusting, loving, purring being, content to share your
happiness and your sorrow.


Let me be with you in our small part of this world, for He has
created you and me.


Do not think of me as a simple creature, for I can see angels
you cannot see.


I can feel the vibrations and wonders of the universe you cannot
feel.


I can communicate with you, if you will learn my language . . .

I understand yours.


And when the time comes and I will have to leave you, remember I
will always be with you, for our spirits are one.


Love me!  Cherish me!  Care for me!

              Be Kind To Animals Week Starts Today!
                          May 4-10, 2008


The American Humane Association declares a "Be Kind To Animals
Week" each year to celebrate the unique bond animal lovers have
with their pets and to encourage people to show kindness and
compassion to all types of animals.  For tips on things you can
do to show kindness to animals and encourage others to be kind
