More update links if you'd like to read them. There is also an easy way to find whom you write to in congress to address this horrible issue of how American horses are being exported to Mexico with even more gruesome scenarios. I personally watched the slide show and it is not pretty.
Please take the time to let your voice be heard on this issue. If you have any brainstorming ideas on how to help solve the root causes of the excess horses please share your ideas. Education on responsible breeding practices is one solution that comes off the top of my head. Education on care and management is another for the ignorance of a lot of new horse owners or those still in the "dark ages". Teaching people through free education seminars is one way. Contact your vets and saddle clubs ect to see how you can help. Have informative conformation clinics for all breeders to breed responsibly even those just breeding one foal.
I don't know what the solution is for the excess horses people can't afford to have euthanized. Perhaps low cost euthanasia clinics and/or others that travel to the destination to humanely destroy the horse. Perhaps people could donate thier time, equipement , to bury the horse afterwards. There is a big problem for people who cannot afford for the vet to come out and euthanize the horse and/or afford to properly dispose of the carcass. What is the answer? Right now is as easy to afford a horse's initial cost for anyone but the totality of the cost of upkeep is not always realised and the vicious cycle continues.
I have seen more neglect due to ignorance than anything else. What can we do? I take the time to talk to people and help educate them as best I can. I have taken horses in and spent money on them with no return and placed them in homes including retraining them on my own time. I have learned more responsible breeding practices and how my decisions ( each foal that hits the ground or a considered breeding) will affect it's usefullness. I have considered putting on education clinics in my area working with others interested in helping please contact me.
I hope if one person responds to this to contact a senator or congressman as I have then I have been successful.

This is dedicated to ALL who prayed for KhemoSika to come back into my
life! This is proof of a fairy tale ending!

Haven't been here for a while so am saying hi to everyone and to those
who know me. Soon I will be moving my membership hopefully to the
Southwest Arabian club in Springfield. Looking forward to meeting some
of ya in the club. I have moved to Branson so not far away from
Springfield and am currently working for Dixie Stampede so if anyone
gets down that way, say hi.
My mare had a filly again this year and am trying to come up with names
for my little honry thing. She is out of my Ferzon grandson stallion,
Fezt. She is a wonderful filly and has personality like her daddy and
full sister. If anyone has any ideas for names, please share them so I
can have some ideas. I want to represent her lines but yet her
personality in her name.
Lu
I am looking for 2 western saddles with 16 inch seats and are made for
arabians. My friend got an arabian and also needs tack. If anyone has
anything that is for an arabian or made for a welsh cob pony, then we
will take it. Thanks so much! We are in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Anykind of horse tack would help us out!
I have a grandaughter to KhemoSabi, her name is Khemo Sika, and if the
vet says that she is sound to breed, because she is 20yrs old,( acts
like she is 5 years old!) I am looking for a really good arbian
stallionwith a great bloodline and personality to breed to. She even
looks like KhemoSabi. I am located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. If you
could please send pictures of your stallion and telling me all about
him, and why he would be good for my girl, as it has been 7 years and
she will need alot of romancing!:) I am wanting to wait to breed her
until march or april of next year, this way I can get my shows out of
the way.
Thanks!
Crystal
P.S. Could you please include the price of the stud fee :
Here we are stepping it up a notch. We went into a pace for a while. It wasn't as bad to ride as I thought it'd be.

THIS IS THE STORY OF KHEMOSIKA
In 1990, my very first horse was struck by lightning and killed, I
was devistated. The very next day my friend called me, and said she
had this little arabian mare that nobody could ride, because she
took off in a full run. She thought that I could handle her, so she
brought her to me and it was love at first sight for the both of us!
Her name was KhemoSika, the grandaughter of the once famous arabian
stallion KhemoSabi! She stood 14.2 hands and was a beautiful bay
with 3 white socks and an hourglass shaped blaze! The top of her
blaze was heart shaped and my sister said she was sent with love
from above! I got on this little mare and we instantly bonded! She
NEVER once tried to take off with me. She had previously gone
through a barn fire and needed me as much as I needed her. She
filled an emptiness that was in my heart and helped me get over the
pain of losing my first horse. A couple months later she went
through another barn fire and Thank GOD I got her out in time. This
mare and I were best friends and she took care of me! She never took
me in anykind of danger and if I fell off she was always there to
help me get back on. We had a realtionship that you just dont find
everyday with a horse. Sika was a one of kind and I knew I would
NEVER find another one like her! 3 years past and she was 6 years
old and I was 21 and just got married. 9 months later I had a baby
and couldnt afford to find out why Sika kept breaking out in sores
every spring. So I talked to a friend, and she convinced me that
Sika would have a great home with her and she could take care of her
and find out why she had these breakouts. When I signed the papers
and handed her over to my friend and my mare looked back at me, I
knew it was the biggest mistake of my life! I knew I would probably
never see her again. 5 years later I contacted my friend and she
told me Sika was up for sale, so I put down $100 and tried to buy
her, but things did'nt work about between us and we had a falling
out, she moved 60 days later and I never saw my mare again! Once
again I was devistated!2 weeks ago I was taking to a friend and we
got to talking about Sika, because I have a breyer model of her
grandfather. She said she had possibly seen her on a sight called
marestare.com, this is a sight where you can watch mares have
babies. So I proceeded to go on a search and find my beloved friend,
who now would be 20 years old and God only knows where! I posted my
story on all of the freecycle groups and arabian horse groups that I
knew were out there. I also contacted Heather at marestare.com and
she was kind enough to post a search for her. I made up flyers and
gave them to friends and they posted them in the barns. My friend
who knew the lady I gave her to said she was taking to the sale! I
panicked! A horse at her age would defintley be dog food! I kept
searching and didn,t give up hope, and kept praying that she was ok
and would once again be back in my life. I had several sweet people
that wanted to help me find her, and so the search began. We looked
everywhere but she kept coming up listed as still under ownership to
the lady I signed her over to. Something deep down inside, told me
that she was still out there somewhere. People still continued to
support me and my search and kept in contact with me by email and
giving info that they had gotten from the arabian horse registry. It
was still the same info as before. Then I had a lady call me saying
she was friends with the lady that bought my mares baby years ago,
and that Sika had been sold to a man in Bixby, Oklahoma. That was 3
years ago! My first thought was, surely she wasn,t still there, and
I was right! She wasnt! I decided to give up on my search for a
couple days and rest. 2 days later as I was checking my email, I had
an email from someone stating they new my mare, and where she was! I
was so excited, so I called her and chit chatted, and she said she
was coming back from a horse show and she saw a picture of this mare
and said that she belonged to a client of hers. (this lady was a
horse trainer) and had even worked with her a bit. ( she had running
problems again) She told me not to get my hopes up because they were
very attached to Sika and probably would'nt want to give her up, but
they might let me have some visitation with her. She said she would
contact the owners and have then get in touch with me. I just wanted
to know that she was ok! That evening I got a call from a really
nice lady, her name was Gwen Elliott, she said " crystal, my name is
Gwen and I believe we have a mutual friend" I broke into tears, I
couldn't believe what I was hearing, my Sika had been found! She
asked me to come and see her, I DID! That day in the pouring rain
and thunderstorms! I had found my girl! She was living with a great
family in Mounds, OKlahoma not to far from me! She was beautiful,
and looked the same as she always did! She did'nt look 20 years old!
This family had taking really good care of her, over the past 3
years. I was so happy! I had taken with me her favorite treat,
Natures valley oats and honey granola bar! She remembered me and
THAT! She didn't waste any time eating it! Gwen said she would have
to think about all of this because she had bought Sika for her
grandkids. I completly understood and did'nt want to take her away
from anyone. But she said I could come and see her anytime I
wanted. A few days rolled by and I called to see if Gwen had a good
mothersday, she said she had, and she wanted to make my mothers day
a good one to, she told me I could come and get Sika, she was mine!
I just cried and told her how much I loved her! She said she
believed in carma and told my story to her grandkids and they said"
grandma, Sika needs to be with her, sell her back" I took Gwen her
money 2 days ago, and rode my horse again for the first time in over
10 years! It was just like it was then, she remembered everything
and knew everything I had taught her!She even took care of my 7 year
old daughter who has fallen in love with her! I think she always
knew I would find her again someday, and understood why I did what I
had to to, I promised her 10 years ago I would find her and we would
be together again, I kept that promise! I could'nt have found her
with out God's help and all the people who helped me search for her.
I also want to say THANKS, To Gwen Elliott, who didn't have to sell
her back to me but she did, and is letting me keep her there! She
will always be my friend!
I wanted to tell this story to let you know that God does work
miracles and to never give up hope! This truly has a fairy tale
ending!
With all our love and Best wishes!

About 10 yrs ago, I sold my arabian mare to a friend, When my
friend walked her away and my mare looked back at me, I knew it was
the biggest mistake I have ever made! This mare and I had a
relationship that was very rare. She came to me at a very rough time
in my life, my very first horse had been struck by lightning and
killed the day before, and a very dear friend brought this mare to
me the VERY next day! She had gone through a barn fire and nobody
could ride her, so my friend brought her to me and we instantly
bonded! 3 years later I got married and had a child and money was
tight and that is when I decided to sell her to this other friend. 5
years later I contacted her to see how my mare was and she said she
was for sale, I only had 60 days to purchase her because this person
was losing their place and was going to be moving all the horses
out. I put $100 deposit on her to hold her and continued to pay
money towards her, but the lady put it all towards feed and not her!
She up and moved and didnt stay incontact with me. I recently found
out that my mare was taken to the sale in Tulsa, OKlahoma. I am
wanting to get her back so she can spend the remainder of her life
with me. I have been told that she was seen on a sight called
marestare.com. But we dont know if this is true or not. If anyone
has any idea of her where abouts please contact Crystal. I am
located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Her picture is in the photo
section of this group, if there is no photo section please email me
for photos. I have given all her info at the bottom. Thanks and God
Bless! I promised this mare we would be together agian!

Welcome Rebecca!! It's great to have you with us!
Amber
I hear that we are going to be in the 50s by early this next week!!
I'm rearing to go!! I'm ready to see all this ice and snow gone and be
able to get some fencing done. And riding.
We have a 9 day old baby that is going nuts to run her hind off over
at Rebecca's place ( Pale Moon Arabians). And I have so many hooves
to catch up on doing. But I think spring is around the corner.
How's the weather in Nebraska?

Wow! It's great to have you with us. Please share some of your
photos in te photos section under your farm name. And put you web
address in our links section! I was just at the Southwest MO banquet
a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the Wilsons weren't able to
attend. Shan normally does the auction and was missed. He is a
wonderful person with one heck of a sense of humor. They are very
successful in the English division. I have very high respect for
them and thier accomplishments.
Well, 29 years is a good stretch! I have a 28 yr old right now
that is my first Arabian/first horse. My condolences to you.
Welcome!

Hello, My Name is Gail. I've just retired to Missouri where I can now
have my "retirement dream." The Arabian horse has always been part of
that vision. Now that I have the time and space, I've acquired 2 more
Arabians. Plus the two that I brought with, brings the total to 4. I
also have 3 mini's of the Arabian type. In the past, I have traveled to
Louisville for the Nationals and am going to Scottsdale next week! I am
interested in training tips and trail riding.
Hi my name is Rebecca Michael. I'm 17 years old and have had purebred
Arabians for almost a year now. My first Arabian was Von Emerald Aliah
AKA Estel, which I purchased through Amber Corona as the owner's acting
agent. I have since gotten two more Arabs from Amber, a weanling filly
and weanling stud colt named Sora and Taz, respectively. I've always
wanted an Arabian, and I've found their dependibility, intelligence,
and hardiness to be just what I wanted in a horse. I hope to show in
dressage, western pleasure, and maybe even some cross country.
Thanks!

Hello from Mirage, Ltd in Lincoln, Nebraska! We have our Arabian stallion, The Hurricane with Chris Wilson along with a lovely 3 year old Dutch Harness Horse/Arab English prospect. Our other trainer of almost 10 years is Greg Haston from Lee's Summit, MO. My parents, sister and I have been showing and breeding Arabians for almost 25 years. We just buried our first Arabian horse this past August, El-De Naztez. He was 29 years old. You can visit us here http://mirageltd.com/
I want everyone to know this list started for the Southwest MO but
there has not been very much participation. So instead of starting
another yahoo group for the starting of Central MO I just changed this
over. But everyone is still welcome with thier input and our
respective sharing of ideas and information pertinent to those in our
respective areas.
My name is Amber Corona and I have been involved in getting people
together in the Central part of Mo to try to get an AHA affiliated club
going. I also happen to be a member of The Southwest Missouri Arabian
Horse Club as well. I am an amatuer showperson who does a lot of
parades, trail, open shows, and I just love Arabian horses.
Welcome Everyone! I have been getting my lists together of those
interested. This is an informational source as well.
Warmest Regards,
Amber Corona

Lu
I don't know if anyone else is planning to be in the Adoration parade,
but I have applied to be entered in it which will be December 3. I
will be entering my Ferzon grandson with a Christmas theme. Hope some
of you can make it there.
Lu
I just thought I'd share my latest "theme" with the camel, Aladdin ( 2 years old). The annual Turkey festival happened Saturday. We showed up and what a hit he was! I can't wait to get started on my Christmas idea. Both our camels dressed up like Mr. and Mrs. Clause and the handlers as santa's helpers. What do you think?

I am proud to announce the birth of a chestnut colt born sometime in the early morning. He is out of my mare, Khansata Shahil ( aka Serenity) whom I bred . Her mother was/is my first horse and first Arabian. Serenity is the first horse I bred and raised. Now she has presented me with an absolutely stunning colt that is very friendly. I'm working on his name. The sire is CAVU Malachi, son of International champion *Ralvon Elijah. Malachi is a champion in his own right in working cow horse and halter.
Things started bad. I really thought the foal was going to be rejected. The mare looked at the baby like " Where did you come from and what am I suppose to do with you?" She chose a very muddy spot to have him and he was struggling by slipping and sliding and falling when I found him at 5:30 this morning. He was shivering and covered in cold mud. I was able to get him wiped down and dry with towels. I carried him to another pen and brought mom. I then tied her up, fed her and proceeded to help him get up and nurse. She was pretty ok with it when I was there but when I let her loose she just walked away and acted like he wasn't even there. If he came over to nurse she gave him a nasty look and walked away. Good thing my mom was staying over and had the day off. I was a little late for work but felt comfortable with mom and "the family" with where they were at. My mom had to out and work about every hour to hold mom and let the little guy nurse.
She is now letting him nurse and everything else seems ok. I'm still concerned but at least she will stand and let him nurse. She will stand over him when he sleeps but does not show much other affection so far. She has not nickered or nuzzled him. It is real hard to see him walk to her looking for it and she just acts like nothing. Well he is a very big baby and she is a smaller mare and seems pretty sore. I have given her some Bute and we a shot of Oxytocin to help her in the third stage of labor and cleaning out. Hopefully, as she is accepting him more there may be more "loving" and motherly affection. He does call to us and we give him a lot of scratching and loving . Hopefully it will turn out well, I was very worried I had an orphan on my hands. This is her first foal. We could use any prayer though.
Warmest Regards,
Amber Corona

Hey Stannye,
Here is is:

Hopefully, we can get some life into it. My husband got hurt on the job
and just got released to go back to work on Monday but with all that I am
not going to be able to show at our show. I had planned to but the extra
care and money was not there due to his injury. I do think I might be
able to at least volunteer a couple of sessions.
Warmest Regards,
Amber

I had to share this one. Ever see this before? It takes a lot of training.
Yep, a camel on a dock at Lake of the Ozarks. Had to walk a 60 foot ramp. This is Aladdin. No, not the famous Arabian.

Just a Horse!
From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse," or,”that's a lot of money for just a horse".
They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman/man."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because they "just" don't understand.
