RE: [ChamownersWeb_Community] Question about parsons..
I apologize for not responding. I have been trying to start a new business and it is very time consuming.
I started a reply when you first asked. I really have no information on this topic. I have known a few people who kept Parsons and they are their favorites. The shared pictures and stories. I know one talented girl who has successfully bred them. I have some of her pictures on the website at: http://chamownersweb.net/photo_galleries/photogals.htm. There is some good info here also:http://books.google.com/books?id=6NxRP1-XygwC&pg=PA67&lpg=PA67&dq=parsons+chameleon&source=bl&ots=RpgHu-Fbli&sig=KnIZBk6rkxKqLe_B2BeIEIZWT2s&hl=en&ei=BaxISvm1I9evtwftrMSMCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=8. The link is from googling Parson's chameleon and is an excerpt from a Barron's book.
I do not know if these will work, but here are some links to posts on ADCHAM about parsons. I really do not know of any effort to keep this info secret. If the links do not work, go to http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ADCHAM/ and search for parson.

Rh. (Rd.) platyceps Hey everyone, I was looking over some sources and found some confounding information about Rhampholeon platyceps. According to Necas & Schmidt 2004, Rh. p. carri lacks a rostral process and the nominate form has a short, soft rostral process. All the ... |

:) exactly, hmm I thought i would be ignored as well in here with this kind of Qs... i wonder why.. Same reaction everywhere.. I just want to know about the history behind all the hush hush.. Obviously, i struck some nerves when the word "parsonii" is mentioned. With all the weird behavior from every chameleon owner, I assumed every parsonii now that live are illegally obtained somehow. I just want to know the fact behind that statement before I deemed it as the truth.. sigh.. thanks anyway.

Hi David, I have cared about chameleon long time ago; but, back then when i was at a different country. And, the care was different compared with US way.
Now, as I returned to my old passion in keeping for chameleon, I haven't been properly introduced to the history of it.
I knew you've been keeping chams for so long.. but, I was wondering if you would not mind enlightening me about the controversial topics of Calumma parsonii.
I just knew a very brief history of US breeders have never been successfully breed them.. and after that it gets blurry fast. as people been very secretive about it and the fact that this kind of question always spark intense argument everytime being mentioned in a public forum, i thought it best if I just ask individual people. What exactly happened there? and why the hush hush and sensitivity among US herp hobbyist arose whenever the name parsoni mentioned?
Perhaps, you can just email me directly.. if it is better to do so..
