*Chihuahua Fanciers*, the first and only listgroup of its kind founded in 1998, is dedicated to all aspects of the blend of science and fine art of breeding, and the sport of showing quality Chihuahuas. Our members strive to leave a mark on the breed, to create superior dogs that transcend into the future.

ELIGIBILITY- actively breeding, or getting started; have attended a national, local specialty or all breed shows, made contact with show breeder/exhibitors, and be committed to and have taken the initiative to try to learn and understand the BASICS. The "basics" is studying the standard, making contact with, visiting and befriending reputable show breeders, studying movement, structure, breeding theories/practices, attending training/handling classes, and having a general understanding of how dog show competition works. The purpose of breeding should be to improve the breed and to be successful, you must be knowledgeable. Become familiar with bloodlines, conformation and the breed standard. Learn how to recognize and avoid common pitfalls; understand how to apply genetic principles to your breeding program; learn to develop an "eye" for good breed type and to apply these priorities: Breed Character; Silhouette; Head and Expression; Movement-Soundness and Type; and Coat - and to exclude any dog that lacks in any two of these priorities.
