Subject: Important Recall Information from Waggin Tails

Dear Waggin Tails Customers
In our last email, we discussed the recall of Natural Balance products
linked to rice protein concentrate imported from China. At that time, the
FDA announced that there were additional manufacturers to be named that
would be involved in this specific recall of rice protein. Early in the
week, there were two announcements of recalled product, neither involving
items that we carry. Those two recalls were Blue Buffalo Spa Select Kitten
Dry food, and several Royal Canin Products. We have listed below, the
specifics of each of these recalls.

As of last night, we learned of one additional manufacturer with canned
foods being recalled available on our site, as well as two expanded recalls.
The new brand is Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul, The expanded recalls
are Blue Buffalo canned dog and cat formulas as well as Natural Balance
canned dog and cat formulas. Again, specifics listed below. The canned dog
and cat canned food recall from Blue Buffalo has been confirmed by us
directly from their company, however there is no official announcement of
this at the moment. We expect that information to break later today.

On Monday, the 16th, when the announcement came from Blue Buffalo that their
dry kitten food was being recalled and that Royal Canin had recalled some of
their line, we responded immediately, as we have done throughout this entire
recall, by taking down ALL products made by these manufacturers regardless
of whether or not they were actually recalled. Over the past few weeks, we
have had many manufacturers accuse us of being overly cautious by refusing
to sell all items of a brand when only specific products are thought to be
dangerous. The chain of events with Blue Buffalo and Natural Balance, where
their recalled product list expanded over time only serves to prove that our
decisions are the right ones and we will continue to act with all our pet's
safety and health as our number 1 priority. We are shocked to see other
retailers and websites sitting by, with a business as usual attitude.

This is a horrific situation. We do believe that the problem is becoming
very clear. What initially appeared to be a problem with a manufacturing
facility, Menu Foods, has quickly changed. The real issue here is two fold.
First, cheap ingredients imported from China, a country known to have no
quality standards or regulations. Second, pet food manufacturers willing to
buy these ingredients in order to cut costs. There is absolutely no reason
to buy ingredients from China, unless you are trying to cut costs. We would
expect this from companies known to produce economy grocery store quality
pet food, but not from ones making All Natural Holistic food. This is the
responsibility of the manufacturers named above, not a broker or importer of
the actual ingredient. It is their brand and their name on the bag or can.
They are responsible for what is inside. Their decision to source
ingredients from China is incredibly reckless and not consistent with their
claims to make healthy all natural pet products.

Next week will begin a series of emails, where we will be communicating
directly with each manufacturer on our website, asking them to discuss their
quality standards specifically in response to this recall. There are a few
brands of canned food that we suspended sales of that are worthy of coming
back. We will discuss this at length and assure you that any such decision
will be thoroughly researched and well thought out.
Sincerely,

John Gigliotti
President

make sure that this does not happen in the future, we are demanding from
each of our co-manufacturers daily production record of all of our formulas
before they are shipped to us and written certification of NO rice protein

Chicken Soup Recall Information
Taken from http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/

Diamond Pet Foods has announced it is withdrawing a limited number of canned
products manufactured by American Nutrition. This action is limited to three
specific canned products: Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Kitten
Formula 5.5 oz. cans, and Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Puppy
Formula 13 oz. cans, and Diamond Lamb & Rice Formula for Dogs 13 oz. cans.

Diamond Pet Foods has not received any indication of quality or safety
issues, including pet illness, with the three withdrawn products. However,
because American Nutrition informed the company that these three specific
products may include rice protein concentrate, Diamond Pet Foods felt this
action was necessary for the protection of its customers and their pets.

Customers with these products should stop feeding them immediately and
return them to their retailer for a full refund.

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul dry pet food and dog treats ARE NOT
part of any pet food or treat recall.
