Welcome to this group. We started this group because we belief the concept of free-ranging parrots will benefit the welfare and conservation of parrots.

This group hopes to discuss all aspects of free-ranging parrots. Training and techniques will be high on the list. Emphasis will lie with developing conservation value for parrots using these techniques. For flying pet parrots please join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freeflight/

The present parrot overproduction crises means more and more parrots will need reliable homes. We encourage Parrot Adopting Programs. But fear their will be a need for a more sustainable rescue and rehabilitating format for parrots. Free-ranging parrots is both a humane and economic way for parrots to enjoy their lives.

For conservation we observe that parrots are disappearing together with their native forest habitats. On the other hand many (53) parrot species make a living in cities. Combining these two ideas we like to develop techniques to establish parrot populations in cities. As cities tent to get bigger they are sure to have a future there. Aviculturist from the areas of this planet where parrots are native are encouraged to join and discus opportunities for their city and native parrots.
