This is a discussion group about CLASSICAL DRESSAGE. There are many other topics, horse related and non-horse related, that are worth discussing, however they are not to be discussed on this list. Even though there are several varying schools of thought within what is considered valid classical dressage, there are some underlying tenets of classical dressage which are agreed upon. Other forms of training, or even dressage, do not necessarily share these tenets. Those can be discussed here as long as they are discussed in their relevance TO classical dressage, but when the discussion strays outside of the realm of classical training, it needs to go elsewhere. Likewise, there are training methods that are in direct opposition to that which we hold true and valid in classical dressage. It provides interesting fodder for discussion and provides the classicists the opportunity to enthusiastically defend the tenets of classical dressage, but when it comes down to it... if it is not based upon classical principles, it is not classical. If it is in contradiction to the classical principles, at some point it heads into the realm of unsuitable material for discussion on this list.
