>>Any advice for what kind of treats would be good for an older horse that can
no longer chew hay and has a hard time chewing grass? We have to water down her
pellets. (The vet said to water them down, but Inky can still chew them. I have
heard if you don't water them down, that the horse can choke.)

How about some muffins (homemade!) using oat flour, a little corn flour,
molasses and either applesauce or cooked, mashed carrots? You can add a little
peppermint candy--crushed--to it, if your horse likes peppermint! There's even
a cookbook (out of print, but you can still find it) that's just horse treats.
Small slices of apple, baked until soft, but not mushy. (Use a baggy inside
your treat bag, and carry a small towel to wipe your hands. The horses love it,
but it's messy.)
And my favorite: soft and chewy oatmeal cookies (without raisins). You can
share, and treat yourself, too, when you and your horse do well!
