Hi Rick

I am not sure Bill saw that part. I believe you have ID'd the butterfly
correctly as a Gray. You saw the underside, we didnt. But I am glad Bill
brought up the Question Marks as they are from the same family and for others
reading and wondering about the anglewings, its another species to consider when
puzzling over "Just what could this one be"

BTW, your email is invalid and you should change the setting so if a moderator
wants to contact you, they will have a valid way to do that.

I have photographed these guys on the meadows. For anyone interested, the
Compton Tortoiseshell is one of the migrant butterflies. Its numbers vary each
year.

For the Eastern Comma, this underside mark is hooked on each end, sometimes
sharply and on the Gray comma, its more of a curved line.
