DEALING WITH A JEALOUS DOG
While there's lots of anecdotal evidence of dogs acting "jealous" towards other dogs or a baby, only recently has research proven this to be true. This is especially relevant for older dogs, who are less capable of handling this emotion than younger ones. Learn what to do if your old companion is feeling jilted. Learn more

THE SIBERIAN HUSKY WAS DEVELOPED BY
the Chukchi people of northeastern
Asia. When changing conditions forced these semi-nomadic natives to expand their hunting grounds, they needed a sled dog capable of traveling great distances at a moderate speed, carrying a light load in low temperatures with a minimum expenditure of energy. The sled dogs they developed are the direct ancestors of today's Siberian Huskies. Siberians are gentle, friendly, alert and outgoing -- and are still capable of covering lots of ground. CA LAW RE DOGS ON OUTDOOR PATIOS WHERE FOOD IS SERVED
Hi, Justin - This is interesting and very useful information for anyone who wants to eat w/their dog on the patio area of restaurant, but Susan Fields didn't provide the specifics to back it up (and for  responsible doglovers to wave at the next restaurant owner who says "no dogs" because they don't want to get cited by the health inspector.  What is the specific SECTION of the state health code and what is the specific CA LAW she is referring to??   And does city code trump state health code??

DOG OWNERS TICKETED IN DOG PARK
Atlanta Journal-Constitution -- Oops. Animal-control officers in Cobb County have cited two women for having their dogs off leashes -- even though the women were in a park created specifically to let dogs off leashes. When Cobb opened an off-leash dog park last month, it seems, officials didn't take the county's leash law into account. "It's ludicrous to say it's off leash and to give people tickets for having them off the

GRAFFITI & STICKER REMOVAL EVENT
THIS SAT., Nov. 18
, 10 a.m., 1 Granada Ave. (in conjunction with the beach cleanup).  Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team (CAT), in conjunction with many Long Beach city bureaus and neighborhood and business associations, are getting Long Beach ready for the Thanksgiving holiday with a citywide GRAFFITI & STICKER CLEANUP.  The idea is to educate the community about the problem of graffiti, "slap" stickers, and other blight, while empowering residents to take action in helping to clean it up and keep the city clean.  Volunteers will receive tools, trash bags, gloves, and refreshments.  All area families, groups and individuals are encouraged to attend one of the sites listed below to help volunteer.  Justin Rudd, the founder/director of the 501c3 nonprofit Community Action Team is hosting the main event that is being held at 1 Granada Ave. in Belmont Shore at 10 a.m., in conjunction with Rudd's monthly "30-Minute Beach Cleanup," where a few speakers will present a 10-minute "empowerment" and demonstration session for attendees.  More than 150 volunteers are expected at that location, along with speakers that include Long Beach Mayor's wife, Nancy Foster; Third District Councilman, Gary DeLong; and president of the Long Beach Firefighters, Rich Brandt.  Immediately following the short presentation, all volunteers will be given cleanup supplies and asked to fan out along the beach, the neighborhoods and local business districts.  Also, volunteers will be encouraged to take their supplies back to their respective neighborhoods to do mini cleanups.  Rudd is hoping to encourage each volunteer that day to remove at least 10 stickers from their neighborhood.  The City of Long Beach's newly reorganized Graffiti Removal Program and its contracted removal company, Graffiti Protective Coatings, will demonstrate the use of their new state-of-the-art trucks at 1 Granada Ave. at 10:05 a.m.  The demonstration will include paint matching and removal.
