The Society is a non-profit organization (IRS 503C) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We were founded in 1991 as the Capital Area Pond Society. Our purpose is to promote interest in Koi (and other pond creatures) and water gardening in the South Louisiana area. We own and maintain our own Koi and goldfish ponds and assist a few public ponds in Baton Rouge.

We hold monthly meetings where members socialize, ask questions of other pond owners, and discuss current events. We organize a spring plant sale, a late-spring pond tour, and other evens. Most meetings are on the 4th Sunday of each month, but the schedule varies around holidays and special events. You may attend your first meeting without being a member.

When practical, we rescue fish which have outgrown small ponds, or whose owners are no longer able to care for them. We will come to your small pond in the Baton Rouge area to capture and transfer the fish. Rescued fish become part of member's permanent collections or are sold at our spring events. Rescue from large ponds is sometimes impractical.
