Group;
As I told another group in a post, when someone comes to your door and says that
they are with the Humane Society or Animal Control, the majority of the time
they will be in a uniform with a badge or credentials.
if not you can always ask them for their supervisor's name and number to verify
that it is a legitimate inquiry. Most times they will cooperate if they are
legitimate. If not they will become rude and insultive. Do not allow them into
your house until you have verified who they are and what agency sent them, and
by no means allow them to take any pets from your residence.
A while back they had a problem with a man that put lights on his car and
dressed in a uniform like the police. It turned out that this guy was a rapist
and preyed on the women he stopped.
That is why if you have any feelings that something is not right, you can also
call the police department that has jurisdiction in your area and ask them to
send an officer, to verify whether or not it is a legitimate inquiry.
Most departments are more than happy to send an officer to either verify or
refute the person's inquiry, the person may be arrested on the spot for
impersonating a public official.
In this day and time, it is better to be safe than sorry, with the dogs that are
being stolen for fighting and laboratory research, it is best that we are
outside with our dogs when we are out. Especially, with the public persona that
people have in regard to Pit Bull Dogs.
