Welcome to DogTrek, whose mission is to explore the ever-expanding frontiers of dog training. . . to discover and renew the applications of learning theory to training our dogs and the insights to be gained from practical experience. . . to boldly go where no dog trainer has gone before.

Topics within the scope of the list include:

* Clicker training for dogs
* Other dog training techniques (but see exclusions below)

Of particular interest are:

* Basic training for the companion dog
* General training techniques, such as shaping, targets, and errorless learning
* Learning theory as it applies to dog training
* Training for canine sports such as for agility, musical freestyle, and tracking
* Instructive experiences with dogs

Topics outside the scope of the list include:

* Training by abusive methods (subject to the judgment of the moderators)
* Announcements except by permission
* Any topic which the moderators deem to have become counter-productive to the benefit of list members
