Meg,
I was just curious as to what type of method she uses.
Hope doesn't have those issues. Someone on the list named Shellie has a Pit Bull
Boxer X that has those issues.
I own a Boxer/Am Staff X. She is a pretty good girl. I live in a rougher area of
my City which is why I was considering having her take Personal Protection
classes.
I have used Cesar's methods with Hope and a guy here in Canada his methods as
well. The Canadian believes umbilical training is a major key in getting your
dog to respect you. Like Cesar he also has a show in National Geographic.
Thanks
Harold
P.S.
Shellie's son should try the umbilical training with their dog but not talking
or looking at their dog. Try it for 10 minutes. If you have a nylon leash use it
like a slip collar(or just attach the leash as normal and tie it around your
waist) and attach the other end to your belt. Don't talk to the dog and just
walk, change directions. Once you go inside leave the dog alone, then after
10-15 minutes take it out again using the same principle. Keep repeating it over
and over. Your son will eventually get your 8 month old dog's respect.

Harold,
I'd think twice about enrolling a dog with such issues as a personal protection
dog. They need to have confidence and a certain sharpness in order to be good at
what they are supposed to do and also not become overly aggressive. Not every
dog has the proper temperament for this and from what I was reading initially,
this one does not. I believe that Gaye uses Cesar's Way and probably anything
that does not hurt the dog :)
