Actually, the secondary sex glands are responsible for production of
secretions other than sperm, and the secondary sex glands include not
only the prostate, but also the seminal vesicles and the bulbourethral
glands. Prostatic fluid is the pre-ejaculate (the clear fluid one sees
emitted prior to the stallion mounting the mare), then next in the
ejaculation comes the the sperm-rich portion of the ejaculate, which
contains (obviously) the sperm, but also prostatic, bubourethral and
epydidimal fluids (so removal of the testicles/epydidimis during
castration will reduce a portion of this section of the ejaculate), and
then finally comes the so-called "gel fraction" of the ejaculate which
originates from the vesicular glands.
Hope this helps
