Showing Heat   Message List

I have a scenario I'm curious about. I have a two year old filly, born 5/3/06,
who has not yet shown ANY signs of heat. She doesn't squeal/strike, or show any
outward signs of heat. Does this seem odd? What is typical for a young mare to
start showing heat? Do some mares NEVER show it? Would you suspect any
"female" problems if she didn't show it by a certain age? What would that age
be? It's not that I WANT her to be acting all mare-ish, but it is in the back
of my brain all the time and I hope that she doesn't have some type of problem
going on.....

Thank you!

Carrie Bale

... Not particularly odd. Some mares never show estrus, but a young mare is more easily intimidated, and in many cases less likely to do so. It would however...
