Re: [FL-SOMOS] Fw: PFDT: Parvo Virus Outbreak

I agree, and been dubbed a germaphobe..  But I found that if I have hydrogen peroxide, & I dip the dogs feet in it & rinse with clear water, BEFORE I put them back in the car it helps. Shoes I have been known to pour clorox on, at a show in Ocala many dogs had diareah.. I cloroxed my shoes, peroxed & rinsed the dogs feet, did not let them lie down, or lick (yum to a male dog ) areas where others may have pooped or peed , I have been quite lucky..and I also give CS if I think they have been exposed.. .. Jeez, its like the swine flu scare.. at school, I have provided the clorox towlettes for the students to use on the keyboards etc.. It has cut down on the colds etc.. we all got last quarter .. ( I have given some snake oil trishs CS to the dreadfully sick students :).. Trish

Thank you for sharing this information.  I would also like to add to it by telling everyone that they can bring this virus into the home on their persons just by visiting the grocery store, mall and the like.  It is wise to wear old shoes that one can wipe or spray down with a bleach solution, when there is a large outbreak in your area.  Vaccines aren't 100%, and we have seen two cases of parvo, tested positive, in older dogs who had been up to date on all shots.

I thought you should all know about this.  Please protect your dogs and share with others who you think need to know.

Hi guys,
I just wanted to be sure everyone was aware that there is a parvo outbreak in Palm Beach County.  This is very serious.  Please avoid dog parks and other areas (for some of you this might include neighborhood walks) where your dog might come into contact with infected feces.
I am attaching a press release.
Rachel
