There is practice every Thurs night for coursing in Davie. It usually starts
about 5:45pm and runs to the last dogs have had a chance to run. E-mail if
interested and I will send directions. It is in Davie which is in South Broward
County.

On Sat I am pretty sure we will be doing a M&G at Petsmart in Sunrise Fla. Also
in Broward County. It is on Sunrise Blvd just east of Flamingo. We are usually
there from about 10:30 to 2. We are usually there every Sat. Tomorrow may be a
little touch & go as my partner for the M&G is dropping her dog at my house
tomorrow as her Mother in law is not expected to live thru the night. I am
planning to go but may have to change last minute. You can call the store to
make sure we are there.

E-mail me if you have any questions. Not too much elso going on right now
because of the heat here right now. Always slow in the summer. Opposite of up
north. I hope you are prepared for the heat if you are moving her. Where are you
from?

SMS will hold a straight race 200 yard practice MONDAY April 7 starting at
5:00PM at the Toole Training Track in Davie, FL. (this is after the time
change!) If you have any questions, email me at  sms@...

Be prepared to be put to work when your hound is not running (as a catcher at
least). This will expedite practice.
We will anticipate helping hands this Monday so all can run at least twice. This
is last practice before the official meet on April 12-13.

We will have entry forms on hand for pre entries for the Official Race Meet on
April 12-13.
ALSO- muzzles and racing blankets for purchase.
If you sighthound folks (except whippets) haven't done your application for your
LGRA number, NOW IS THE TIME to do it!

If your dog does not have AKC,NGA,UKC etc. papers but is recognizable as a
sighthound breed and is neutered you can apply to AKC for an ILP number which
allows you to compete in all AKC events exept conformation (like agility,
obedience, coursing). An ILP number is acceptable to LGRA, NOTRA and ASFA.

ALL DIRECTIONS: AT CANAL turn north on dirt road at canal. Turn right after wood
fence

disqualifications do not apply; all hounds are inspected for lameness,
bitches for being in season, and all muzzles for correct fit.

items between races so that others can share.
˘ Because racing is an owner/handler participation sport, ALL owners and

  That would be around 31 dogs having fun and many owners running around!!

Eventually all the dogs made it to the finish line (a little meandering and
occasional senior moments were observed) safe and sound.
Daisy whippet pulled a muscle maybe and was gallantly carried to the finish by
Marino. I have checked with Dee and she is doing better.
I must say some of the wannabeehounds really do wanna be! They gave it all and
wanted more.

I am glad everyone finally found the secret road. Maybe someone could make a
sign to put out on Orange Drive for next Wednesday?

Time for role call for  WANNABEEHOUNDS will be approximately 12:00 Noon.
No breed discrimination BUT BEHAVIOR discrimination. We reserve the right of
admission!

WANNABEEHOUNDS Derby Rules.

Races will be arranged by the Racing Secretary according to racing
capability, previous practice highly recommended.
Entry Fee $15.00
Will be running 2 programs and the highest pointed dog for each group will be
the winner.
Everybody is a winner at SMS and they get prizes!!!
There is no shade available - bring shade and drinking water for your
dogs. There are horses on the property so......if there is a chance your dog
would
prefer to chase a horse it would be safer for him not to be there.

Directions: FOLLOW SIGNS FOR PARKING. Please close any gates you have to
open as you enter the property. ALL DIRECTIONS: AT CANAL turn north on dirt
road along canal. Turn right after wood fence.

From the WEST- North and South From I-75: Take Griffin Road exit. Turn
east. At Flamingo Road turn North, then make first right onto Orange Drive.
Travel approximately .5 miles to canal. See above.

From the EAST-North and South I-95 or Florida Turnpike to Griffen Road.
West 7.3 miles(I-95) or 5.3 miles (TPK) to Palm Avenue. North over bridge
and then West 1.4 miles on Orange Drive. Go past Balasky Animal Hospital to
canal. See above.

Alternate: I-595 to Hiatus Road. South to Orange Drive. Go past Balasky
Animal Hospital to canal. See above.


Whippets will run the same way as the sighthound breeds. Same roll call at
7:45AM
We will need someone at the entrance to give first right of parking to the
LGRA and whippets owners.
