Just wanted to update everyone on what is happening here in WV. I have just drawn up a proposal for a developer to present to the WV Racing Commission on a fantastic greyhound training facility to be built in 3 phases.....regulation training track (heated), whirly-gig, sprint field, kennel area, runs, veterinarian offices, feed and supply stores and a museum. We are all hoping that the state goes for it............first phase will be the training track.
Hey......I am envisioning NOTRA NATIONALS here you know !!!!! I want to see all of you again !!
I have had a great offer and just may be going "back to the dogs" and start training again here in WV. It would be a good move for me, the whippets and my greyhound.......will have to decide after I get back from vacation in FL over Thanksgiving week.
Miss you all !!

I'm hoping to come down for the next NOTRA. I have a Whippet who needs to practice on Friday ( hoping to enter him on Saturday ). Does anyone have dogs that he can practice with? He has his WRCh but hasn't run on the oval yet - just some back chaining by himself.
Elisa there are usually a few Whippets that practice on Fri's. I'd suggest you let him watch a few starts then run him single. Decide the next step after his runs based on his performance. We should get started about 3pm, our lure operator must leave at 5pm.

The other thing with JAX is, you don't really have to worry about back chaining on that track. Part of the purpose of back chaining is to teach a dog to rail (and all of our NOTRA tracks the pulleys are to the outside) with JAX the rail is ON THE INSIDE, so it "pulls" them to the rail naturally.)
However, I have noticed, if you run a dog ALOT at JAX, and then take them to a "regular" oval. They come out of the box looking for the rail lure TO THE LEFT and not paying attention to the lure IN FRONT of the box. It will throw some dogs first race sometimes when they go back on the grass.

Yeee Haw sounds like heaven for a training facility, do it all in one place. It would be "GREYT" place for the NOTRA OB National. he he I know I'll hear about that from the Whippie folks. lol
Good Luck with the project !
If you get over to the farm after your vacation give my boy & his brother a hug for me :)).

I am trying to get a whippet ride from Crestview FL (east of Pensacola) to maybe
the Naples dogshows or the Miami dogshows so he can go to his forever home near
me..
We have gotten him from Oklahoma to North FL and now just need that last long
leg.
Hey on the offchance anyone was traveling I-10 to Jacksonville next weekend (Nov
21-22) I could pick him up there even as I will be there.
Or anyone traveling for Thanksgiving to somewhere south of I-10??
Thanks so much and please post to other lists
Been through Prescott (don't ask my husband about the "short cut" we took on Thanksgiving day to California, down the "scenic route"!! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!!!)
I lived in Colorado for two years and just love that area.

WOW!! Good luck. I went to school in Prescott. You must go up that way and see it along with Jerome and Sedona.
Well I landed a great job (FINALLY) and if it couldn't be here - it ended up being exactly where I wanted it to be!! Heading out West towards the end of next week. Going to be working at Banner Good Samaritan (in a 17 suite Operating Room) in Phoenix Arizona. Staying with my brother Sean and his family. He is a deputy Sheriff in Mesa and his fiancee is an ER - PA (she used to be a Medic here in Charlotte and he used to work at CMC in the ED Security) My dad and step mother live in Tucson. So it will be nice to spend some time with my family that I really haven't seen since the AZ Nationals in 2005!!! My brother Riley lives in Montana but he and his family come down to visit. With the holidays I'm hoping to see him too! I'll be there until the end of February (13 week contract) and I'll fly home several times when I can on long weekends and make sure everyone is doing ok here ;o)
Byelobog is going with me, he's entered in his first OFC the 12th of December!! Can't wait, maybe even get him qualified for the Grand Course with any luck?! Going to try and get his feet wet doing that and we'll take him to LA for NOTRA (only 4 hours away!) So I won't be dogless or eventless, although Rupert will be very bent out of shape! :( Krystyl will hold the fort down here and grow up the puppies. Next fall will be a busy one, now is the time to travel and earn the $$.
Hopefully one of the kids can get Bosley to the December WRA meets in Camden for me. We'll see you all in the Spring!!
Hope you all have a good holiday season with your families,
Just a 13 week Travel contract Nancy - back to traveling - pays MUCH better than full time work (and they were putting us on "voluntary work reduction" at work, which wasn't "voluntary"!!)
