Hi everyone,
Busy list tonight.  Thanks to Lynn E. who pulls almost all the listings for the New England area off of craigslist and other sources!  She sends them to me to include on the list so they can get more exposure!
Here is tonight's list:

Horses in need:

Connecticut:

Sadly I do not have time for my 18 yr old beautiful 15 h bay arab. I have had her for 9 years and between working 2 jobs and going to school I cant give her the attention she deserves. She goes english/western very easy keeper (no shoes) great ground manners (stands for vet and farrier). No health problems. needs experienced rider. Very loving horse and it breaks my heart to have to search for a new home but I need to be fair to her. She is great around kids and other animals. Loves being turned out all day with other horses. Feel free to email for pictures.

Subject: Horses needing homes
Hi! My name is Beth Parker. I live in Mobile Alabama. My Mother, Sylvia Parker, lives in Brighton Illinois (1-1 ½ hrs north-east of St Louis Missouri) lost her job 6months ago and they are trying to foreclose on her farm. I had homes for the two horses but the day before they were to be picked up I received a phone call that both women's husband's had been laid-off. I am again trying to locate homes for them.
"Domino" - born in 1989 is a Leopard Appaloosa. Mom has had him I believe since he was 6 yrs old (maybe longer). He still thinks and acts like he's 6 yrs old! He never grew up. Has plenty of energy and loves to go for rides whether ridden or in the trailer! He's kind of like a Golden retriever, always ready to go and can't wait! My brother comes down the driveway with the horse trailer and Domino starts to Whinny, flips up his tail and starts running for the gate! He is a very smooth ride and I love to ride him bare back. He does not like more than one person on him however.
"Queenie" - April 1985. is a black Tennessee Walker. She is beautiful, easy-going loving and sweet, doesn't mind anything you need to do to her. She is neck-reined, leg-reined and was also voice-command trained. I have never used the voice commands on her, but she is a wonderful easy-going ride, mostly ridden by my daughter. She was trained with the English saddle and seems to prefer it. My brother can lead her out of the pasture with no halter or lead rope and she will follow him like a faithful dog wherever he wants her to go
While Domino is obviously the dominant horse in the pasture, and tends to control where & when Queenie eats, when he is not around she will go find him and stand by him. My mother is 70 yrs old and can no longer take care of them as they should be, but does her best with the help of my brother. I am only able to come home once a year so I do repairs and grooming and whatever else she needs help with then, which is not enough. When the fence shorts out and Domino finds the neighbors grass to nibble on and has to be closed up in the barn until my brother can come fix it for her.. There is Queenie right next to the door, waiting for him.
They are a funny couple, and I love them dearly, but it's simply not fair for them to not have the daily attention they deserve.
My husband talked with a guy names Mike I believe. And I am including pictures in the hopes that a very loving home can be found for them with lots of attention. They had a Coggins test on June 6th to which the results came out just fine and were also wormed at the same time.
If you need any more information please contact me at elizabethsparker@... (elizabethsparker @ bellsouth.net) or my cell phone: 251-689-6412
My home # is: 251-479-2394 work # is 251-445-4570
and if for some reason can't get a hold of me, my husband Will Talbott's cell # is 251-581-3616

Shiloh is a gorgeous yearling Welsh/Welara pony. He has not had much handling, but is friendly. I have haltered him, led him a little, and he does pick up his feet and stands quiet. Would be great 4-H project. Cute little pudgy chestnut colt with star and white hind sock. Mom is 13.0 hands and dad is 13.2, but, Shiloh seems as though he may end up a little bigger than dad. Downsizing farm. Make offer!

2.  For Sale or Free Lease - Registered Arabian Mare - $3500 (Greenville, NH)

Reply to: sale-gckmt-1248288153@... (sale-gckmt-1248288153 @ craigslist.org)

Registered purebred Arabian mare for sale! This mare is stunning, but she's too small for me and too young for my daughter. I am looking
for either a free lease situation (indefinite timeframe), a trade or a flat out sale. I know! Lots of options. My *main* goal is to get Johara to a home where she
can be loved and utilized to the best of her ability, and I can take on another pony (small) for my daughter to learn to ride on!
Johara is a Region 16 champion with multiple Class "A" wins in the Sport Horse In-Hand class. This mare is a beautiful mare in a sport package. She was born
in 2005 out of Polasingul (pure Polish) by ASA Ebony Pharoah. I bought her as my future horse but she is just too small for me. At age 4 she is roughly 14.3h and
petite in stature.
This mare is very smart and willing to please. She has had 4 months of show driving training (but will need a huge brush up since it's been a year!) and she has
also been started under saddle. She has been nothing but a sweet and smart girl since the day I brought her home, newly weaned at 5 1/2 months old.
It has taken me a long time to come to this decision, but ultimately it is best for her to find a new home where she will be loved. The ideal situation I see her in
would be a pony club or 4-H project with a petite but strong rider (as she is still green!). I would *love* to find a situation where someone has outgrown their
pony and would like to trade the pony for the mare.
Videos and more pictures available!

Skinny Standard Bred X Mare? - 01:50 am, 2 July, 2009 For Free: I am listing this for a friend. She is contemplating giving away a horse that she rescued. This horse was brought home from a local horse auction. SHe looks like a standard bred mare cross and was told she is 8-10 years of age. She was bred when they got her and on the skinny side. She foaled with no problem ( cute paint filly) but has really lost weight and is very thin. They have been feeding her mare and foal feed with not much success. She does eat but seems to not put on weight. She has beeen wormed as we thought that could be the problem and it is a struggle for them as they are beginners and she seems to be head shy. She lets you pet her head but is afraid of the wormer. She leads but can be diffficult. The Amish man at the auction said she did ride. They thought this horse would work for them but it is more than they can handle as first time horsepeople. They have minis which are easier for them to work with. So if you are willing to come and look her over and see what you think, they may be willing to let her go to a good home. I told my friend it may be a long shot to even find her a home. They may consider trading this mare and her paint filly for a horse that is broke for a beginner to ride with decent ground manners and in good health. The filly was born on April 15, 2009 and reddish brown and white. Thanks email jlkemmer@... (jlkemmer @ hotmail.com) Photo is of foal shortly after she was born. Kittanning, PA

For Lease
*16.1 H, 18Y.o. Reg. Appendix QH mare Free lease to approved home
This mare is my love and the mother of my filly. I have moved onto another horse now and don't have time for her at this point. She is a sweet mare, a loner but really loves her human. She is sound aside from some arthritis, I do keep shoes on her year round in front, backs in summer, but no special or corrective needs. She is an EASY keeper and loves her food. She is a big mare with a lot of heart, can be trail ridden, has done up to some First Level dressage but is very out of work. She does NOT jump. This mare has ,many years left and needs an intermediate rider to enjoy her and keep her active in her golden years. APPROVED HOME ONLY!
*14.3H, 23YO, Reg Arab Mare Free lease to approved home
Again, my own personal mare that I no longer have time for. Great for kids, loves attention, will let you crawl under, on, over her. She is also sound aside from some mild arthritis. She trail rides, although she is an Arab and can be spooky at times on the trail. VERY comfortable to sit and knows her leads etc. Did many 4-H shows and was consistently in the ribbons in her younger years. This mare is just as sweet as pie and I would love her to go where she will be loved, gently used and well cared for. No jumping! APPROVED HOME ONLY!
Companion Horses
*TB Gelding 16YO, 16.1H, possible light riding, but needs extremely confident rider. Has some lameness issues, gets along well with others, can be bossy but never mean. Neat guy, obviously has had a hard life and needs some place where he can just be!
*TB Mare 25Yo, 16.1H used to be a prelim event horse, now completely retired. Could be ridden again by a VERY confident adult rider. Loves to be outside!

1.  important news: fosters, Chunky, and other news

Posted by: "May S." mayleen@...   funchy_crunchy

Wed May 20, 2009 11:06 am (PDT)
Times are difficult for all of us. I wouldn't ask for your help, if it
wasn't so important.
Last night, due to an unexpected emergency situation, the woman who was
going to keep Chunky ("Move those Chains"), could not keep him. I got the
notice yesterday afternoon, so I cancelled my other plans and by 6pm I
picked him up. I have to admit right now I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.
A few months back, Maggie's foster had Equihab pick Maggie up with no
notice, so Maggie had nowhere else to go but here. I still am fostering
Gypsy, taken in when a nice local man lost his job and was about to lose his
home. This means I'm caring for 3 equihab horses plus the two
former-rescue horses of my own to care for. I love helping horses, but
Equihab can't succeed without YOUR help.
Equihab isn't just "me". Equihab is a community non-profit organization
which helps horse owners & horses in and around our local area. Equihab
relies on sponsors, foster home, adopters, and other supporters to
function.
The horses NEED YOU TODAY!
Fosters are needed to take on one horse for a few months. Who wouldn't want
a rideable horse to enjoy during this nice weather?
One or two responsible people are needed to organize Equihab events for
summer or fall. Without events we can't do education or fundraising.
A publicity volunteer is needed. We need help connecting homes with the
horses. I believe the right homes are out there for these horses -- we
just need to connect with those people.
Ongoing donations to offset the cost of caring for so many horses are also
needed. The horses need feed, spring shots, farrier, etc. Equihab's hay
supplier just informed us last night that we should expect the price of
round-bales to go up 10%+, starting with the first cutting.
Equihab would also love help with its web site, donated trims, donated vet
care, donated hay or supplies, etc.
A yard/tack sale was proposed to raise money, but we need a location & a few
helpers to hold it. Can you help?
A Board of Directors position is also vacant: looking for a responsible,
impartial adult who is able to give a few hours a month to Board meetings.
Contact us for more info.
Please contact me by phone, 443-466-4087, or by email, may@... (may @ equihab.com) if
you can be of any help. On behalf of the horses, thank you.
Sincerely,
May Snyder

17H, 2000 lbs, mostly dominant (even over mares) but has been getting along with donks and a couple of girlfriends of late.  He was used and abused by the Amish for years!  ):  20 something, but in great shape.  Likes nothing, but respects fencing.  NOT for a timid inexperienced person.  The BIG Mr knows that he is intimidating and uses it to his advantage, but he does have nice manners.  Drives, has the dents, scars and outfolded lips to prove it.  Did not like the whole 'riding' thing.  He would like a big field with a run in to stand in until his last breath.  Not bad with his feet, if you're feeding him, he is barefoot.  The BIG Mr is an easy keeper, needs to be on hay and/or hay stretcher ONLY, anything more gives him the trots (no pun). UTD/coggins, etc.

Presently in Groveland MA.

If you have the space and experience for a big standoffish draft, please let me know... fatoldfarmwife@... (fatoldfarmwife @ verizon.net)

More info:

This boy is in need of a family. He is a big horse that thinks he is small. He has had a tough life and would prefer to be a baby sitter. He can be turned out with mares, donkeys, and doesn’t have any problems with dogs or cats. He is rather timid and needs to have owners who will care for him and not have caretakers.  He responds better to one or two handlers and not more. He has not been turned out with any geldings yet, but soon to be tried. His dream is to be loved, and his retirement wishes honored. No work, no saddle no bridle and no driving. Just let him keep your equines company. He is not a dominant horse, just a nervous boy. He forgets that he is as big as he is, he always keeps you with in his sights, but if scared he forgets how big he is.

Nebraska:

1.  Urgent update (3 Mar 2009):  I do have an update on my landlord's horses. I spoke with him today when he was out and it is not great news. He said that one way or another he will be down to 4 horses this spring. I am guessing that he is planning on taking the 2 mares and 2 colts to auction the next time it is local. I am not sure when that will be. Our area is pretty quiet on horse auctions and usually only holds two pretty large auctions a year...one in the spring and one in the fall. I haven't heard yet when the first one will be. I can't see him taking them too far out.  I mentioned that I might consider buying the one mare myself (as she is very attached to my mare) and he said that if I did, I would have to probably start paying him for hay.  I have been in contact with a rescue who might be able to take them, but I would have to fundraise the ransom and health certs, etc. for them...that was just for the 2 mares though. The two stud colts will be the hardest to place. The one is very sweet and handling well, but the other is still pretty shy and I have yet to get him haltered. sigh. He did mention that he was considering gelding at least Dusty.  Any help for these horses would be greatly appreciated!

I have listed my landlord’s twores on my website.  Please note that they have very limited handling.  I am reintroducing the halter and will work with them until a good home is found for them.  5 yr old bay roan mare.  Approximately 14.2 – 15H.  Beautiful face and very willing to please.  She is haltering nicely now and is beginning to take tentative steps forward when asked.  Not bad considering we are working in the pasture with all the other horses around!  Best offer.  My landlord also has an older bay roan mare.  This mare is very friendly likes people, is halter broke (she is a little nervous at first when you start to put the halter on, but once on she will do anything asked of her), and had a beautiful bay colt last year (she is open this year.)  She is not registered.  I am not for sure how old she is.  Best offer.  Update (11 Dec 2008):  My landlord has also added the two yearling stud colts to the list of horses for sale.  Denny is a buckskin roan.  He is still shy with strangers and is not halter broke at this time.  I have been working with him as he originally wouldn’t let anyone come within five feet of him.  He loves scratches and to be brushed, but he is still a little nervous with the halter touching him.  Dusty is the bay colt out of Bella.  He is an absolute pocket pony and loves attention.  He halters well, but can still be a little stubborn about leading.  He allows fly masks and will pick up his feet if asked.  You can do anything with this boy!  He has potential to make someone a very nice gelding!  I have lots of pictures if anyone wants to see them!   Best offer.  Update: 13 Apr 2009:  These horses are still available.  They are now UTD with deworming, but not vaccs as my landlord doesn't believe in vaccinating horses that don't leave the property. I will try to get more pictures of them on the website soon.  Please email me for more info Missys.hope @ gmail.com (remove spaces)  Located in Nebraska.

This is very difficult for me to do.  Due to a personal problem (divorce) the future of Double G Stable & Farms is in jeopardy.  Because the future is so very unclear for me right now I need to think of the horses first.  Because I don’t want there to be a last minute panic or wait too long and have the horses suffer I am asking for help now.  Please keep this about the horses. I ask that any personal questions you might have remain personal. Just e-mail me and I will do my best to answer.  This is a very difficult time for me after 17yrs it was not the situation I expected to find myself.

I need to place as many of the horses here now as I can.  I will be going from having my husbands income to not really having much of any.  Which makes it hard to care for 13 horses.  So here is what we have.

Marigold 32 yr old blind OTTB mare.

Makeda approx 25 yr old Standardbred mare needs a special diet due to dental issues.

Ollie  2yr old TB mare Still has slight heart murmur but it seems to be getting better.

Silver approx 18 yr old POA Blind gelding. He does ride and is very sweet.

George is my blind gelding that is the best riding horse I have ever had. Just ask and he’ll do it.

Victoria 12 yr old appaloosa mare. Broke to ride I used to show her, but she has just been hanging out in the pasture.

Hope 18yr old Arab  cross mare. OK for light riding due bad joint in rear leg. Loves kids.

Cherry 25 yrs old QH mare. Very light riding or companion due to old knee injury.

Miss O and Jackjack will stay with Alex

Mini Mow and his momma will most likely go to a friend.

Hannah will return to her previous owner.

Emma is owned by a boarder.

We are in Sophia NC which is almost dead center in the middle of the state.

I do want to make it clear that this isn't just a fire sale.  I made a promise to each of these horses that they would never suffer again.  Which is why I am trying to place them sooner rather then later.  They will not just  get on the first trailer that shows up.  I am not "advertising" them because I don't want to take the chance of them going to the wrong home.

Rhode Island:

1.  NEER/Solar/RI is in desperate need of a new home.  He is an older 'shrimpy' Belgian (looks like he was put in the dryer:), beaten up AND down by the Amish.  He drives, but does not appear to ride.  He has learned to trust more, likes things calm, likes to eat, and loves carrots now.  He needs a quiet retirement home where no one will yell at him or abuse him, but he is not 'skiddish'.  He is about 15H and stubby, comfortable...if you like riding a couch. 20ish years old. UTD.  Needs work on his feet, he is accustomed to stocks.  He needs somebody with experience to do his feet, he does NOT want them touched!  ):

Solar would need to be retrained to be ridden.  He can be stubborn, but you can barely blame him... he is not mean or nasty, very sweet...just hesitant to trust, and he really should just be retired.  He loves where he is now, but is not a trail horse, and his fosters want a trail horse.

PLEASE help Solar!!  ):

The operator of a Nebraska training ranch and sanctuary for Bureau of Land Management mustangs and burros has waived his right to preliminary hearing and will be arraigned on more than 100 animal cruelty counts in Morrill County District Court on July 14.
Jason Meduna, operator of the 3-Strikes Ranch in Alliance, Neb., is charged with 149 counts of class 4 felony animal abandonment and cruel animal neglect resulting in injury or death (read more). The charges stem from authorities' seizure of 211 allegedly emaciated mustangs, burros, and mules from the ranch, along with the discovery of an additional 74 carcasses.
Each charge penalties of up to 5 years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.
According to Meduna's attorney John S. Berry, Judge G. Glenn Camerer set the arraignment date during Meduna's appearance in Morrill County Court on Wednesday.
Morrill County Attorney Jean Rhodes was unavailable for comment.

2.  Hello,

I seen you posted equines wanted.

Could you add us to the list?

We are searching for a mule that needs a good home, broke to ride for the grandchildren. Gentle a must.

Age not really important.  Will be well loved and cared for with plenty of space to roam.

A donkey is also need as a replacement for an elderly man, he uses his donkeys to plow his and neighbors gardens, one passed on this winter and he is searching for one that is at least semi broke. Age unimportant.

Both are guaranteed to find a forever home, what comes here never leaves, they find a safe haven.

We are in Northwest Alabama.  Franklin county.

Thanks in advance.
