I help when and where I can. I am helping different groups and privately in IL at the moment. Do what ya have to. Thats all all of can do. No where did I ever say ignore them. Take them hay, call other rescues, call the humane societies call the news or whatever. Call mini breeders, post on other groups, call the state equine division, call the 4h groups.
The point I guess I am trying to make is that when rescues over extend themselves and can't help the ones in their care already or a desperate owner surrendering, need they need to stop taking in more until the situation clears up. I am a say it as it is person and a lot of people don't like that but I am not going to BS and coddle, and play games. I shoot straight and am practical. Sorry but that's how it goes. We can not save everything as much as we would all like to. Someone has to say no sometime. I live in agony and conflict for not being able to help all that want to come live here. But the funds aren't there and my manpower can only handle so much. Certain things I have to say no to. And - that makes me crazy.
I have equipment and bedding, I have hay, and I have other feed available. I do not have transport fees. I do not have a big truck, I do have a good trailer though. I do have room for one horse, mini or pony. But the reality is I am not going to have a fund raiser to get transport fees, no one is going give money. But if there is a equine in need and it can be transported here, I will do what it take to take care of its needs until a proper home can be found or it is determined it can stay here because thats what I do.
Thats all I can offer until I win the "lotto"! LOL!

And Chris (Qarr) you are one to talk about rescuing.... ........do you REALLY want your EXPERTISE on being a "rescuer" rehashed?
I'm sure Beauty's Haven has reported the individual they got the Mini's from. But instead of judging how they do things....why don't you email them (bhfer@earthlink. com) and offer your expertise on ways that you can help improve things down there for the abuse/neglected horses.
If you don't want to donate (which is a tax write off for you) to save horses in need because the authorities were not immediatedly called (as far as you know) why not take a weekend to go visit BH & volunteer your time to care for the horses they've already saved? Or donate to those horses for vet care, farrier care, etc. The horses already at the rescue, would love to have an angel that cares for them, or even a forever home....
You are asking for donations for the animals at the rescue but buying horses at the same time with donated funds?? Buying from him enables him to do it again. He is reading "emotional buyer" on your face and will be laughing all the way to the bank.
I agree - report him then once confiscated you can put your name down as a helping rescue without buying them if you just have to have them.
