Are you going to wear that to the veg fest next year?  A "stocking cap lady" pin would look good on it.

If you don't have a special pet warming pad, we learned from an ER Vet that a sock filled w/rice, then heated in the micorwave, works much better than hot water bottles. As the water bottle cools, it takes heat away from the bun. It just so happens I had long, winter, thigh high socks which worked out great for wrapping around our bun. But be careful not to burn the bun with an overheated sock.

Melissa,

I tried parsley, but she chewed and spit it out. What is the dosage for the
infant gas x? She's about 6.5 pounds. Thanks so much for the help

Nicole,
Do you have anything else you can try, another favorite treat, maybe parsley
and kale or something like that? It could be gas even if her stomach does not
feel bloated. It would not hurt to try baby Gas X. Try giving her some extra
TLC, keep her warm, and encourage her to drink some water. Do you ahve any

Some of the entries have links that don't work, but sometimes that's the fault of equinesite, so don't assume they've gone out of business.  I wonder if this would be good for you: http://hansongrain.com/  They sell rabbit supplies and hay.

Mmmm. I like to take a mixture of all of our bunny's pellets and pour some chocolate soy milk over them. Better than cocoa puffs I tell ya. Give it a try. You'll be surprised at how good it tastes.  All that fiber is an essential part of our diet. Westerners don't get enough fiber in their diet and this is an easy way to do it.

Big surprise. Until people stop looking at other animals as a commodity and see them as the sentient beings that they are, this will always continue.
How about them Pats! Smart play at the end of that game.

Bonnie & everyone else.

I wasn't the person actively involved, but a year or two ago Sweet
Meadow did some breeding. Several groups actively boycotted them
but several HRN members engaged them in conversation. It took
a few weeks of negotiations but eventually they decided to
stop breeding. We have already gone down that route.

The fact that they are opening doing it now. (And I suspect but
can't prove they have been breeding discreetly before this) does
not make me personally want to engage them in conversation
again, When we were negotiating the first time, one of the
responses we got was that we need to understand that they
are a small business. (Um, no, it is a business's responsibility
to understand its customers) They clearly know our position.
They also know they have lost quite a bit of business because
of this. They are making it clear that they don't care.

None of this is (in the past or in the future) has been done officially
by HRN. We are a non profit focused on rabbit rescue and we make
it clear that we are against breeding. We may make statements that
we are disappointed about places that breed, but we really shouldn't
pick out a single organization.

On the other side, we are clearly a group of rabbit lovers and
what people on this list want to do on their they are welcome too,
and I hope they have some success.

Suzanne

I don't really have a right to say anything to this group-but perhaps there is a better way to convince the owners not to breed and sell rabbits by asking for a sit down/talk session? The owners are good people who would probably listen and agree with this group if the facts were presented in a kind, informative manner.
I strongly believe that the way this is done will make all the difference in the world. I've learned that diplomacy is the best way to handle any disagreements to do with intelligent people. These are good, intelligent people who perhaps don't understand the plight of the rabbits and what you all have to go through with hoarding, breeding and dumping.

Really-may I recommend that instead of online protests perhaps requesting a face to face meeting with some cool headed people presenting the case might be more effective?

Only a suggestion.. .

Just wanted to let you all know I went back to the save sweet meadow group today to see if their were any responses to our posts. And they did infact delete all of our post. So maybe starting another group against them would be a better idea if you all wanted to proceed with the protest.

The closest place I knew of for hay bales when I was down there was a feed
store in Avon, though I can't find it listed now. I have no idea what they
sold for pellets. If you were driving out to Sherborn for hay, maybe using
the Waltham Agway for hay bales (also pellets, but I forget what they
carry) is as convenient a choice. I used to use them while working in
Watertown. I imagine there is hay to be had in various places between
Quincy and Sherborn.

The Pet Supplies Plus on Southern Artery (same lot as the Goodwill store)
may be able to order 50 lb bags of pellets for you if they do not have
them on the shelf. Way back when I had all those fosters, that is where I
would get my 50 lbs of Purina green bag. Hay came from the place in Avon.

VCA in Weymouth is on the Oxbow retain/vet List. Ordering bulk pellets
through a store or vet that already gets regular shipments will save you
some money, though will not be as economical as using the Sweet Meadow
warehouse. Fin Fur & Feather (Washington St) is also on that list, but
they sell all sorts of animals and have been known to advertise "Get your
Easter Pets here!" I have avoided them like the plague, haven't stepped
foot in it since I was a teenager. *gag* If you haven't been in there yet.
don't bother.

Here is the email I wrote to Al. People can feel free to copy/paste and send it along from their own addresses. I think that Al is responsible for whoever this other person breeding bunnies is. And even if the person breeding bunnies doesn't care about the social implications of rabbit overpopulation, they have to care about a large number of customers no longer buying their products from them. It would be prettty.. unwise... not to.

Dear Al,
I have been a loyal and enthusiastic Sweet Meadow customer and I would like to remain that way. I heard that baby bunnies are being bred on the farm again, and as a shelter/rescue worker, I cannot support such a business. Consider that tens of thousands of rabbits are killed at shelters every year; they are perfectly healthy, cute, sociable rabbits who there just aren't enough homes for. It depresses me to hear that Sweet Meadow is pumping more baby bunnies into the mix, which will directly and indirectly lead to more and more rabbit deaths every year.
I spend thousands of dollars of my own money and countless hours caring for and adopting out foster bunnies through various rescues and shelters. Please consider the greater social implications of breeding bunnies.
I want to try and help save Sweet Meadow and that is why I am suggesting you stop this. A large number of rabbit enthusiasts, including me, have heard about the bunny breeding and are looking for alternative sources for our hay and pellets. I want you to know how big the impact will be on your business if you continue breeding bunnies. I want you to vow to stop whoever is doing this, because I do love your products and I do want your farm to survive. And hundreds of other Massachusetts residents agree with me. This is important, especially during a time like this, for the survival of Sweet Meadow.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Mary Lempert

Are there places (preferably on the South Shore or near Quincy) that sell bales
of timothy hay and/or large supplies of quality pellets that don't breed
bunnies? I buy for 9 rabbits and usually go to Sweet Meadow and buy hay by the
bale and pellets by the 50 lb bag so going through a store for this would be
crazy expensive. Anyone know any place else?
