Welcome to the June 2005 issue of the House Rabbit Network’s email newsletter.
Christine Bennett and Dave Berwind hosted the Spring HRN Yard Sale on May 14th.
Thanks to their hard work and the efforts of many volunteers, over $600 was raised to help the bunnies.
Our next yard sale will be held on Saturday, June 11th at right off rte 119 in Townsend, MA. The rain date is June 12th. Please stop by and help us make this a profitable fundraiser for the rabbits.
Also, be sure to stop by the Woburn Starbucks at Horn Pond Plaza (Route 3/Cambridge Road). The entire month of June there are beautiful pictures of our adoptable rabbits hanging on the wall. Stop by on June 12th from 10:00 to 2:00 and say Hi to Carol and the other HRN volunteers who will be there to answer bunny related questions on health, care, and adopting.
On June 18th we will be participating in the Chelmsford, MA McCarthy Middle School Pet Adoption Day from 11:00-2:00. Be sure to stop by and say hi to our bunnies.
Bunny Of the Month - Comet
Comet was found as a stray in Boston. He absolutely loves attention and will soak up pets until your hand gets tired. Then he sticks his nose through the bars of his cage, trying to get closer to you. It's amazing he doesn't get his nose stuck! He likes his toys and tosses them around his cage. His litter box habits are pretty good. Comet loves his pellets and treats so much, sometimes you have to watch your fingers! He especially loves raisins! You can check out this lovely bunny here:

All are welcome to attend the House Rabbit Connection’s Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 25th, at the Springfield, MA Animal Care and Adoption Center at 11:00 a.m. Following a brief election of directions and review of their annual report, the keynote speaker this year will be Kathy Smith, author of Rabbit Health in the 21st Century and King Murray's Royal Tail.
Wild Cottontails
It is against the law and endangers a cottontail’s health and welfare for an uncertified person to keep and try and rehabilitate an injured or abandoned wild rabbit. If you should come across one that appears to need your help, immediately call the New England Wildlife Center in Hingham on 781-749-1248, or Tufts Wildlife in Grafton (injured wildlife only) on 508-839-7918. You may also call us at 781-431-1211 for help in over-nighting the rabbit until you can get it to a wildlife center.
We are still searching for people who would like to volunteer for:
Silent Auction Coordinator
Bun transportation for spays/neuters
Temporary foster homes
Thank you for your support of the rabbits.
