Welcome to the November e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network!
We are delighted to report that HRN is the recipient of a $1000 grant from
Wal-Mart! The Wal-Mart/Tewksbury "Community Matching Grant Program"
offered HRN the opportunity to match a portion of funds raised through our Yankee
Candle Fundraiser up to $1000 and HRN received the full amount. Wal-Mart is also
receptive to the idea of conducting an HRN Education Day at their busy Tewksbury
location which would be excellent exposure for us.
On the topic of exposure, October was a great month for spreading the news about HRN.
One highlight was the Boston Vegetarian Food Festival on October 21 where many people
visited HRN’s table. Diane Mayer, HRN’s education coordinator, reports: "we spoke with
several potential adopters, and handed out
information. Past adopters also stopped by to
say hello and give updates on their rabbits. Others who saw the HRN banner came over to
say hello and to thank us for the work we do. We took in $115 in sales/donations, and it
was especially nice to hear that so many people hold HRN in such high regard!"
The November Bunny of the Month is Farhad
Farhad is sweet, lovable, and craves attention. Farhad is a dream bunny just waiting for the
perfect forever home. He is well-trained with his litterbox, curious and although he does not
like to be picked up, loves to curl up beside you for pets and, of course, treats! Saved from
an abuse situation, he is so grateful to be warm and safe and he shows it with affectionate
nose rubs and the occasional lick. He enjoys his toys and together time, so if you're looking
for a bunny to watch TV or just
to hang out with, he's your ideal bundle of joy!
And, finally, please don’t forget that November 28 is HRN’s Benefit at Flatbread! From
4-9 pm, Flatbread will donate $3.50 for every large flatbread purchased and $1.75 for every
small one. There will be a Chinese raffle where some wonderful prizes are being lined up.
These include donations from: Wholefoods, Starbucks, Muscular Therapy Associates,
Bunnyhugs Pet Sitting, Busy Bunny, Oxbow Hay Company, Sweet Meadow Hay, Dodge
Grain - and much, much more! Bring your friends along, hang out in good company, and eat
delicious food – all while helping HRN bunnies. Can’t get much better than that!
