Welcome to the February 2007 edition of the House Rabbit Network e-bulletin!
This has been a frantically busy time for HRN. At the end of January, we took in 34 rabbits from a law enforcement case in Fitchburg , MA Fitchburg P.O. Box 2602 Woburn , MA 01888
Recently PetCo has started selling rabbits in local stores. HRN is strongly against any rabbits being sold in stores, especially since so many rabbits are being euthanized at local shelters. In response, we have issued the following statement:
The House Rabbit Network is saddened to see that PetCo has abandoned its "Think
Adoption First" initiative and has unfortunately started selling rabbits in their stores.
Since HRN is against selling rabbits in stores while rabbits are being euthanized at
shelters, we cannot in any
way condone it. Therefor, HRN will no longer be able to
have a relationship with PetCo.

their concerns with this development.

Now on to our Bunny of the Month. Please meet Bramble, a fun bun who loves to shake his head then throw himself up in the air to perform a spectacular binky! He would love to find a home where he has plenty of room to scoot around, jump and play. Bramble is a handsome boy with pretty agouti fur and some Dutch markings. Sadly for Bramble, he has been waiting a long time for a forever home. Has your home been waiting for him?
With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s perfect timing for HRN’s annual “Love is in the Hare” promotion. HRN has many sweet and devoted couples in foster care waiting for a loving home. February is also national “Adopt a Rescued Rabbit” month, a promotion supported by HRN and rescues across the country. Most people do not realize that rabbits are the third most frequently abandoned pet at shelters. Part of HRN’s mission is to provide much-needed education on taking care of companion rabbits in an effort to minimize this tragic but all too common situation.
