November's Buns of the Month are Roo and Pogo! Roo and Pogo are young,
playful, fun bunnies. Roo is always at the cage door to greet you.
They will quickly come out of the cage and love to run and explore!
Pogo, like his name, will jump and escape a shorter pen. They have
also moved pens to the side to explore more territory. So much of the
world to see! Roo, the Himalayan, looks just like a cute teddy bear.
Both will gladly take pets, just give them some time to run first when
they come out of the cage. Both have good litter box habits and they
are excellent hay eaters. They also enjoy nibbling on raisins for
treats.

Come visit HRN at our upcoming education event:
Nov. 28 - Animal Spirit, 2348 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA, 12-3

October's Buns of the Month are Chanel and Cashmere! These beautiful
girls have been with the House Rabbit Network for over a year now.
Their foster parents aren’t sure how they have been overlooked for so
long! The girls have very unique and different personalities, but they
get along like the best of friends. The only thing about them that is
the same is that both are mostly white with dark ears. Chanel has
brown ears, a brown nose, and brown feet that make her look like she is
wearing shoes. Cashmere has black ears, some black spots on her back
and dark black raccoon eyes. Chanel is very soft with fur like a Rex
and she really enjoys being pet and is very playful. Cashmere has big
fluffy fur that she keeps very clean. Cashmere is a little more shy,
but once she sees Chanel getting some attention, she gets interested
and hops on over. They love to cuddle together and are constantly
playing together, running together and hopping over each other. They
both love their hay and enjoy their nightly salads. The girls have
excellent litterbox habits. The girls anxiously await their own family
– are you that special family?

Come visit HRN at our upcoming education events:
Oct. 10 - Celebration of Animals, South Common, S. Main St., Mansfield, MA, 10-3
Oct. 12 - The Blue Bunny, 577 High St., Dedham, MA, 10:30-1:00

Center, Boston, MA, 10-6 Sat. and 10-4 Sun.

Welcome to the August e-bulletin of the House Rabbit Network!

We won! Thank you for voting to help us win the $1,000 prize in the
Animal Rescue Challenge, sponsored by Petfinder! The money goes a
long way toward helping the buns. Thank you!!!

The annual Summer Bunny Bash is less than 2 weeks away! It will be
held in Wilmington on Sunday, August 16, at 1:00 p.m.! Traditionally,
we have a potluck. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come – you just
have to be willing to share bunny stories with fellow guests! If
you're interested in attending, send us an email to sign up and
for directions: info@.... This is a great way to meet
new bunny friends!

August's Bun of the Month is Onyx! Onyx is a cute dwarf bunny. He
seems much larger in his picture than he really is. Onyx loves
attention; you can start petting him and he puts his head down and
takes all the lovin' you can give. This is quite a turnaround for
him – when he first arrived at the shelter he hated to be touched!
Sometimes he gets a little unsure of things but with lots of love
this little guy should really blossom. He has good litter box habits
and looks forward to his pellets and greens every day.

Save the Date! Our 4th Annual Flatbread Benefit night will be held
on Tuesday, September 29. Flatbread is a unique restaurant that
serves organic pizza, salads and yummy desserts like chocolate
chip banana bread sundaes! On September 29, from 4 to 9 p.m.,
they will donate $3.50 from the sale of every large pizza and $1.75
from every small pizza to HRN. Takeout orders too! So swing by and
eat pizza to support the rabbits! We will also be holding a prize
auction with lots of neat prizes.

HRN is looking for donations for the prize auction we are holding
during our benefit night. If you would like to make a basket, let
us know! You can be creative with themes - movie night, lotions,
romance night – use your imagination! Or if you have a business
and can donate services or products, that would be great. Do you
have any new, unused gift cards that you don't want? We can use
them too!

July's Bun of the Month is Danica! Danica is a gorgeous himalayan dwarf
with beautiful ruby eyes. She has an amazingly sweet side and is also
a special little spitfire. It’s not hard to tell what she likes and
what she doesn’t. She has a little cage aggression sometimes, but
she's very easy to work with because she really lets you know what
she’s thinking. Even better, as soon as she steps out of her cage, it
instantly vanishes and the real sweetheart emerges. Danica LOVES
getting nose rubs and exercise time, and it's nearly impossible to
keep her in her cage, even if you're just opening the door to feed
her. She can’t get enough playtime and does some impressive binkies!
And when she’s out, it’s not just about her – she likes to come visit
you too! As soon as you touch her head, that nose shoots up for rubs
and she presses into you with surprising force. She will not leave
until she gets her fill of rubs! Danica is a wonderful bun who has
come so far with a little love and patience and will only continue to
grow into a loving companion with her forever family.

June's Bun of the Month is Magellan! Magellan is an adorable dwarf
bunny. He is very curious and always at the edge of his cage to check
things out! Magellan is also very sweet. Start petting him and he
instantly smooshes down and enjoys the love. Nothing like a good bunny
massage! He is a good hay eater and loves his greens and pellets. His
litter box habits are excellent! Magellan is very playful and when in
the exercise pen he is running around exploring. True to his name, he
tries to escape his pen because there is more of the world to see! He is
a friendly sweet bun that would do well in any home.

Magellan came to HRN after someone dumped a box of eight rabbits on the
side of the road in Littleton last June. He was pretty beat up at the
time with a gash in his ear and numerous bite wounds. (He has long since
completely healed) Even though he has been waiting a year for his
forever home, he knows he has things good.

This month's Bunny of the Month is Captain Mooncake! Captain Mooncake
has earned himself many nicknames since his arrival, he is known as
Moonie, Angelface, Binky Boy, Fuzzbutt, Cap'n, 'the Captain', and, of
course, Captain McBinkerson Mooncake. He bounces around the house with
purpose and conviction. He is always on some sort of important mission
and is in a hurry to complete it. Don't get the impression that he is
high strung, though, he is super mellow and easy going! I think a lot
of his personality is due to his gratefulness. He knows he has a good
life. He was rescued from a really bad situation in upstate New York.
The minute he got here -- he was clearly aware of his second chance at
the good life. This boy is so happy! My mom doesn't understand why he
hasn't been adopted yet. She considers him to be the ultimate bunny -
an exemplar. Moonie is even more than that. He is perfect. He doesn't
chew my laptop cable, he doesn't try to eat my books, he eats every
vegetable -- even if wilted a little. My own bunnies don't have any of
those qualifications! Moonie is an absolute angel. Captain really needs
a home of his own. He would love to have tons of playtime. He wouldn't
mind living with a cat. I think he has a crush on my cat - unrequited
unfortunately. He'd be fine with a family too. Please check out his blog
entries (and video). He is a hunky charmer.

Welcome to the April e-bulletin of the House Rabbit Network!

Easter is almost here! Sadly, this is a time when many baby
rabbits are purchased on impulse and then abandoned a few
months later at shelters (or worse, released into the wild where
they most likely perish). Please do what you can to educate the
public and encourage them not to buy rabbits. HRN has flyers
covering the reality of Easter Bunnies that you can print out and
post at libraries, cafes, and other places.

April's bun of the month is Pepsi!
Pepsi is quite comfortable in her environment. Although she is still not
used to being held or picked up, she loves to have her head rubbed and
being pet! She has a major sweet tooth; her favorite treats are bananas
and soft baking raisins. Pepsi is so cute as she waits by her cage door
every morning for her little sweet treats! She will eat apples happily
too, and carrots as well as lettuce but only when all the fruit options
are gone. Pepsi is quite the "verbal" bunny, making cute little binky
noises when grooming herself and hopping around. When you put your
hand in her litterbox, she grunts a little. She's very sweet, but very
energetic and mischievous as well; always the curious bunny looking for
new places to crawl into, new things to chew on, and, overall, be a
little spoiled furball!

Thank you for your support of the buns!

Easter is now approaching. Sadly, this is a time when many baby
rabbits are purchased on impulse and then abandoned a few months later
at shelters (or worse, released into the wild where they most likely
perish). Please do what you can to educate the public and encourage
them not to buy rabbits. HRN has flyers covering the reality of Easter
Bunnies that you can print out and post at libraries, cafes, and
  other places.

March's bun of the month is Jackson!
Jackson is a very handsome little fluffball. He is approximately 1
year old. Jackson was rescued, together with mother Isabel, aunty Maddy
and siblings Franklin, Monroe, Madison and Penny, in a law enforcement
case. He has spent his entire life in HRN foster care and is looking for a
home of his own. He is a little shy at the beginning, but will warm up
rather quickly. Once he knows you, he will melt down for pets and
follow you around the house. He is very playful and his crazy binkies
will make you laugh. He does a “happy dance” every time he comes out
of his cage. He has a stuffed bunny friend he grooms all the time. A
little quirky, but really cute. I am sure he wouldn’t mind exchanging
the stuffed bunny friend for a real one. Jackson is a Jersey Wooly lop
mix. His hair grows really long. He needs to be brushed daily. His
ears stand up most of the time, but hang down when he is in a bad
mood. Jackson has perfect litter box habits and doesn’t chew anything.
His foster mom gives him free run around the bedroom when she is home.
He never destroys anything. He is also very clean in his cage. With
food he is a little on the picky side. His favorite treats are papaya
and cranberry. He loves his hay.

Love to look at rabbit pictures? We have a handful of 2009 HRN
calendars left and have discounted them to $5 to sell them off.
The calendar is professionally printed and you'll love to have
pictures of HRN bunnies hanging on your wall all year long. You

can print out our mail-order form and pay by check.

Many of you have supported HRN by sending in your
Shaw's receipts, which has been a great fundraiser for us.
Shaw's has sent us a letter stating that they are changing the
receipt collection program. This is both good and bad.

The current program runs through the end of the month.

Calling all accountants! HRN is looking for an accountant to help
us with our taxes. If you are an accountant or know someone who
would be willing to help, please contact us at info@...

Our next volunteer's meeting will be Sunday, February 8, in Wilmington,
MA, at 1 pm. If you would like to attend, please email or call us for
more information.

February's bun of the month is Dahlia!
Dahlia was part of the Plymouth rescue and is one of the last Plymouth buns
remaining. Her foster parents aren't sure how she has been overlooked!
Dahlia is a friendly and inquisitive bun who warms up quickly to new people
and enjoys attention. She likes being pet and loves to toss her toys and
play rabbit fetch. She isn't thrilled with being picked up and mostly
prefers to keep her four feet on the ground. She is rather calm and
laid-back and loves to sprawl out and take a nap in a patch of sunshine.
She likes to keep her cage very clean and organized and would do well with
free range time in her new home. She currently lives in an exercise pen
and she needs the extra room to be able to sprawl out and kick her feet
back. She has perfect litter box habits and only uses one corner of her
litter box. She is hoping for a family that likes to have fun like she
does and that likes to sprawl out in the sunshine and take naps after a
long day of tossing the toys around. In return, she promises to put a
smile on your face and to always keep you entertained. Dahlia currently
would like to be a solo bunny, although maybe she just needs to meet that
special somebun to change her mind. Do you have room in your heart and
home for this gorgeous girl?

While we have placed many rabbits with families, sadly some rabbits seem
to have trouble finding their forever home. Zorro, Gisele, Anise, Dahlia,
Mazaradee, Tanya, and pairs Shiloh and Paige, and Zia and Taloolah have
all been with HRN for over a year. We firmly believe that all of our
rabbits need homes and are hoping to find loving families for these
wonderful rabbits in the near future. You can view their bios on our
website, www.rabbitnetwork.org. Long-term foster bun Jamie recently
found her forever home!

Love to look at rabbit pictures? We have a handful of 2009 HRN
calendars left and have discounted them to $5 to sell them off.

Welcome to the January e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network.

2008 was a banner year for HRN with a record 171 adoptions! We are
thrilled that we continue to grow and wish to thank our volunteers and
supporters. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of rabbits.

Thanks to everyone who voted for us in the Animal Rescue Shelter
Challenge. HRN had the most votes for a rescue from Massachusetts
and won a $1,000! We were honored.

Our next volunteer's meeting will be Sunday, February 8, in Wilmington,
MA, at 1 pm. If you would like to attend, please email or call us for
more information.

Shop at Shaw's? Save your receipts for HRN. We collect Shaw's and
Star Market receipts and mail them back to the company. Shaw's donates
1% of the receipt sales to HRN. This is an ongoing program that has
already raised several hundred dollars for HRN. So save your receipts
and mail them to HRN at P.O. Box 2602, Woburn, MA 01888.

January buns of the month are Betty and Bert!
Betty and Bert are a fun pair of rabbits. They are very playful and a
lot of fun to watch. They love to run around, binky and race around
the pen. They explore their vacation villa. Ever curious, they need
to check out everything. Betty and Bert are tightly bonded and can
often be seen lying together in their cage. They have excellent
litter box habits and are good hay eaters too! They also enjoy their
evening salads. While they are close with each other, they aren't so
sure about being petted. They have made progress and now will
tolerate some petting. Bert and Betty would be ideal for a busy
family that enjoys watching their rabbits more than snuggling with
them. They are very entertaining, fun and personable. Do you have
a home for them?

They make great holiday gifts!

December's bun of the month is Diablo! Diablo, who was once a shy,
scared rabbit, has turned into a big mush who craves attention! He
can't wait for his time out of the cage and to play with his cat
friends. He especially loves to be brushed; he plops right down
for it. Diablo is quite the striking fellow. His coat is a deep
chocolate brown, with lighter and darker sections. So rich! His
out-of-cage bathroom habits are excellent -- NO accidents! His
out-of-cage behavior is perfect, to be honest. He was left confined
in his room while I went out and ran some errands, and when I
returned not a thing was out of place. His favorite place to sleep
is in between the couch and the cat condo. Watching Diablo run
around and eat his raisins is so entertaining, any family that
adopts him could not ask for more…except a lifetime supply of
raisins!

The House Rabbit Network would like to wish everyone a
happy and healthy holiday season. Enjoy the good times
and treasure your friends, both human and animal. Please
be safe too. Keep lights, tinsel, garland, treated trees,
holiday plants and food away from your rabbits. It is
okay to sneak them an extra raisin or two. :-)
Happy Holidays and Peace to All.

November buns of the month are Brownie and Isabel! Brownie and Isabel
are a friendly, sweet pair of bunnies. Even though they look nothing
alike, they are mother and daughter. We rescued Isabel from a law
enforcement case and she quickly had a litter of babies. Brownie has
always been attached to her mother. Being a young bun, she is very active
and loves to run and play. She comes right to the edge of the cage to
heck out everything that is going on! Isabel is a beautiful girl with
pretty, long fur. She needs to be brushed on a regular basis. She likes
to be patted too! Both have excellent litter box habits.

October's bun of the month is Maddy! Maddy is the fluffiest bunny you'll
ever meet. She wasn't always like that though. When she was rescued
during a law enforcement case, her fur was so matted that her bum
felt like a diaper. It was so bad that she had to have all her fur
shaved off. That was quite the sight. She looked like a little poodle. We
couldn't believe how tiny she was. Poor Maddy. But now all her fur
has grown back, and then some! She is so soft. You'll just want to
snuggle right up to her. Maddy is a hay monster. Even out of a plastic
pumpkin, she munches away on hay. She also loves her food, so you have to
be careful what you leave out. Her favorite activity, besides eating, is
binkying around the living room. She likes to bounce around the couch. She
even settles in for pets beside you on the couch. Wouldn't you love to snuggle
with Maddy? Last minute update- Maddy was adopted yesterday!
Hooray for Maddy!

September's bun of the month is Chip! Chip is a sweet boy who
comes to the edge of his cage for attention. Start stroking his
cheeks and he settles right down for a nice bunny massage! He was
born on April 21 in one of our foster homes after a bun we rescued
happened to be very pregnant. Chip is quite playful and will run
around doing binkies inside his cage. His fur is very soft and
you will enjoy petting him. He has distinctive ears because one ear
is missing the very tip. Chip was recently neutered and his litter
box habits are improving. Chip, along with his siblings Ziggy,
Griffin and Buttercup, are all waiting to be placed in their
forever homes! (Brother Quagmire was adopted!)

About a month ago, a little himalayan came into our rescue. She was
found by Animal Control in the middle of the road and had a severely
broken leg. North Shore Animal Hospital agreed to try and mend her leg
if we took her in. We did and are hopeful that she is on the mend.
More surgery is planned for Buggy in the upcoming weeks, as the pin
still has to be removed. With all of this back and forth to the vets,
surgeries and more surgery planned, the veterinary bills to save her
leg are mounting.

You can read more about Buggy here: http://blog.rabbitnetwork.org/?p=1173

Like Bailey's Fund, we are hoping to raise the money to help cover
Buggy's Fund. If you can help contribute, even $5, please click on the

Thank you from Buggy!!! :)

Welcome to the August e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network!

This Sunday, August 10th, is HRN's annual Summer Bunny Bash! It is
a potluck that will be held in Wilmington. Everyone is welcome to
attend, the only requirement is you must be willing to listen
to rabbit owners talk about their rabbits. If you would like
more information, please email info@...

August's bun of the month is Beatrice! Beatrice is a nice girl with
brown spots in her soft white fur. She has that classic rabbit look!
Beatrice has a lot of spunk. She will grunt at you if you are too
slow to get her pellets in the morning or if she doesn't want you
touch her litter box. Her attitude is all show though as deep down she
is a sweet girl. She enjoys attention and getting a nice massage!
Beatrice also really wants a friend. She is eager to snuggle with
another rabbit looking for affection. We would love to find a home
for Beatrice where she could have a friend to live with. Beatrice is
playful and has excellent litter box habits too!

HRN received a lot of press over the last month, mostly
involving the rescue of Joey. We had a phone call on the
hotline about a stray white lop. Sadly, we never found the
lop, but while looking we discovered Joey stuck in an
air vent. We had to call in maintenance to open it up and
free him. Joey is one lucky bunny! You may read more about
his story in the Woburn Advocate, Wakefield Observer and
on the Boston Channel website.

Welcome to the July e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network!

Save the date -- Sunday, August 10, will be the annual Summer Bunny Bash!
Traditionally we have a potluck and everyone brings pictures and stories of
their rabbits to share. It will be held in Wilmington, starting at 1 pm. If
you're
interested in attending, send us an email to sign up and for directions:
info@.... This is a great way to meet new bunny friends!

Do you search online? Do you realize that every time you search you
could be raising money for HRN? It's simple. Just go to www.goodsearch.com.
In the lower section, choose House Rabbit Network as your charity and
search away! We get a penny for every search, and with all our supporters,
that adds up quickly!

Remember to keep your buns cool this summer! If you don't have
air-conditioning, you can fill 2-liter soda bottles with water, freeze
them, and then place a frozen bottle into your rabbit's cage. Many buns
will snuggle up next to them. You can also gently mist your
rabbit's ears.

July's Bun of the Month is Jamie! Jamie was one of the Fitchburg bunnies.
She came from a large-scale rescue in a law enforcement case. She is a
very personable and vocal rabbit. Jamie will grunt to let you know if she
doesn't like something! She loves to play and rearranges her cage all
the time. Ripping and shredding cardboard are other favorite activities.
In the run pen she likes to do binkies! Jamie has only one eye. Her right
eye became severely infected and had to be removed. She is a good hay
eater and enjoys raisins as treats. In the morning she is eager for her pellets
and she enjoys a nice salad at night. Jamie also has excellent litter box
habits.
Jamie has been waiting well over a year for her forever home to come along.
Can you welcome this opinionated rabbit into your home?

Thank you for your support of the buns!

Welcome to the June e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network.

HRN would like to send a huge thank-you to Especially For Pets,
their staff and customers. EFP staff donate their time and expertise
trimming pets' nails with the donations going to charity. HRN was
the chosen charity to receive the donations for the first quarter of
2008. This week, HRN received a check for $3,346! Thank you
Especially For Pets!

Save the date! HRN's 8th Annual Summer Bunny Bash will be Sunday,
August 10th. The Bunny Bash is a potluck where HRN friends gather
to meet and trade stories about their rabbits. Exact details to
follow soon!

Tuesday, October 21st, will be our third-annual Flatbread
benefit night. At this time, we are soliciting donations for the
auction to be held that night. Personal contacts often result in the
best donations. Do you know someone who does photography? Spa services?
Floral arrangements? Art? If you have any items or know someone who
can donate something for our auction, please have them contact
HRN at info@... or 781-431-1211.

June's bunny of the month is Timone! Timone is a confident, outgoing
bunny. He is super friendly and always comes straight to the edge of his
cage for pets. Once you start petting, he smushes down and enjoys all
the attention he can get. Timone has an adorable white spot on the tip
of his nose and the cutest chubby cheeks. He reminded me of the warthog
in The Lion King, which is how he got his name. Timone is very playful
and enjoys his time in the exercise pen. He is always running around,
checking out everything. He inspects every inch and knows there is a
larger world out there for him to explore! Timone would be an excellent rabbit
with children and other pets. He has good litter box habits too!
Timone was formerly a stray. It is hard to believe that someone let loose
such a sweet people bunny.

Shop at Shaw's? Save your receipts for HRN. We collect Shaw's receipts
and mail them back to the company. Shaw's donates 1% of the receipt
sales to HRN. In just a few months, we have already raised $200. This
is an ongoing program with no end date, so save your receipts and mail
them to HRN at P.O. Box 2602, Woburn, MA 01888.

Thank you for your support of the buns!

Hello and welcome to the May e-bulletin from HRN!

Watch Channel 7 News "Protecting Your Pet" series on Mondays. Either
Monday May 12th or 19th, HRN will be featured talking about rabbits and
their care!

Do you know that HRN also has a newsletter, Rabbit Tracks? It is published
three times per year and mailed to our membership. Rabbit Tracks features
articles on rabbit care and behavior. If you would like to receive the
newsletter, please consider signing up for a membership! It only costs $15
a year and your donation supports HRN's mission. Most of the funds are
used to provide care for our rabbits. HRN relies on donations from the
public to support our mission. You can join by mailing in a check or by
using paypal online. The membership application can be accessed online:

HRN also provides medical care for all of our rabbits. We recently took
in a rabbit, Bailey, with a severely broken leg. He was rushed to the
veterinary hospital where he required extensive surgery and an external
pin. We are optimistic that he will completely recover! To date his vet
bills have totaled $1170. Can you contribute to Bailey's fund?
Bailey is an adorable 3 month old mini-lop who is white with brown
spots. You can view pictures, and contribute to his fund, here:

May's bun of the month is Lana! Lana is a sweet bunny that needs someone
to have a little patience with her. Once Lana trusts you, she is the
sweetest and most loving bunny. Lana has trust issues because she was
rescued from a group of kids meaning to throw her out of a car! She has
come a long way. She is very cute with one ear always flopped down. She
likes to be held, and will sit in your lap FOREVER if you just keep
petting her! She loves to eat! Any kind of greens, but Kale especially is
her favorite. Lana has the makings of an excellent free range bunny. She
isn’t destructive, and she has perfect litter box habits. She bonds best
with one main caretaker. She likes everyone when she is out of her cage,
but in her cage she can be protective of her space, litter box and food.
For this reason she would be best in a home with no kids and an
experienced rabbit owner that can understand her emotional needs. With
love and patience, she usually forms a strong bond with her main
caretaker. (cleans cage, feeds, etc.) Lana is a bunny, that with a little
understanding has the capability of being a very rewarding and loving
house pet.

Need more of a bunny fix? Check out HRN's blog! Foster homes post pictures
and stories about buns for adoption, along with pictures from rescues and
baby bunnies that have come into our care. http://blog.rabbitnetwork.org

Welcome to the April e-bulletin of the House Rabbit Network!

The spring Yankee Candle fundraiser was a great success! Thanks
to our volunteers' efforts, we sold a grand total of $4502 worth of
merchandise. This translates into an approximate $1855 donation to
HRN. Many thanks to all involved – your support enables HRN to
continue its mission of education and rescue.

March was a good month for media exposure for HRN.
One of our volunteers was interviewed in the Daily News Tribune
on the mistakes many first time owners make and the issue of
abandoned rabbits:
http://www.dailynewstribune.com/homepage/x346696462
We were also featured on the Best Friends site focusing on
the plight of Easter bunnies.
http://network.bestfriends.org/massachusetts/news/23850.html

Remember to continue saving those Shaws or Star Market receipts!
Shaws will donate to HRN one percent of the total value of receipts
collected. So keep asking your friends, colleagues, and family to pass
on their receipts. They should be mailed to P.O. Box 2602, Woburn,
MA 01888-1102. Funds raised will go towards the medical expenses
of HRN’s foster bunnies.

Now on to our bunny of the month, Logan! Logan is a very sweet
rabbit. He is very gentle and loves to be petted. Start stroking his
cheeks and he snuggles right down for attention. Logan would make
a great family bun. He is very playful and loves to run around the
exercise pen. His fur is a soft white with gray tips, and he has pretty
hazel eyes. He's a stunner! Logan is not only a great bun for us
humans, but he also wants a girlfriend. He's been on some dates and it
is clear he would love to have a friend to play with. He's been quite
the gentlemen, snuggling right next to the girls. Do you have a girl
bunny who could love Logan? Logan is a larger bun, but that just means
there is more of him to love!

Thank you for your support of the buns!

Hello and welcome to the March e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network!

Our annual Yankee Candle Spring Fundraiser is now underway. If you

in the process! HRN will receive 40% of all candle proceeds. You can view

the catalog online:

If you are interested in placing an order, send an email to info@.... Orders must be received by March 13.

March is the last month to get your pet's nails trimmed at Especially For

Pets and support HRN! Especially For Pets will trim your pet's nails for a

donation to charity. HRN is honored to be the chosen charity for the first

quarter of 2008! If you are looking for a place to get your dog or cat's nails

trimmed, call your local Especially for Pets for an appointment. Some

stores also do rabbits! Please make sure to call ahead as they don't take

walk-ins. http://www.especiallyforpets.com/

The March Bun of the Month is Diesel! He is a cute Florida White rabbit.

Diesel came from the Fitchburg rescue and has now been waiting a year

for a home! Diesel has quite the personality and is a lot of fun to watch.

Seeing him play and run around his exercise pen doing binkies and racing

through the cardboard tubes is such a joy. When he is in his cage, he gets

bored, so he rearranges everything, pushing his litter box into the center

and tossing his toys. He loves to demolish a good wicker basket

or pieces of cardboard. Diesel likes to be patted, and he also has

excellent litter box habits. Can you end his long wait and give him his

forever home?

With Easter approaching, don't forget all the shelter rabbits. We are

trying to spread the word that Adoption is not only for dogs and

cats, but rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and other animals too. We

also want to discourage parents from purchasing rabbits for children,

thinking they are good starter pets. HRN has an "Adopt a Retired

Easter Bunny" campaign to promote the adoption of rabbits.

Please consider printing one of our flyers and hanging them in

your neighborhood or workplace. Vets offices, libraries, grocery

stores and office buildings are great locations.

Flatbread fundraiser night. For those who have never been, Flatbread is

an organic pizza restaurant. On our benefit night they donate $3.50 from

every large pizza sold and $1.75 from every small pizza to HRN. We will

also have prize auctions with lots of fun stuff!  Come join your fellow HRN

Hello and welcome to the February e-bulletin from the House Rabbit Network!

Love is in the Hare- this month we are promoting pairs of rabbits for adoption!
Rabbits are social creatures that love the companionship of another bunny.
It is so cute to watch them snuggle together and groom. If you are new to rabbits,
consider adopting a bonded pair of rabbits rather than a single bun. If you
currently have a rabbit, consider getting your bun a friend! While they enjoy the
company of another rabbit, you cannot just place two bunnies together. You
must go through a bonding process. HRN has an article on our web site about
bonding and our volunteers can provide guidance. Once you have a bonded
pair, you will enjoy watching them play and snuggle together. HRN does
sell "Love is in the Hare" merchandise at www.cafepress.com/lovehare

Shop at Shaws? Save your receipts for HRN. We collect Shaws receipts and
mail them back to the company. Shaws donates 1% of the receipt sales to
HRN. In a few months we have already raised $200. So save your receipts
and mail them to HRN at P.O. Box 2602 Woburn MA 01888.

Don't forget about the nail trim program at Especially For Pets! Especially
For Pets will trim your pet's nails for a donation to charity. HRN is honored
to be the chosen charity for the first quarter of 2008! If you are looking for a
place to get your dog or cat's nails trimmed, call your local Especially for
Pets for an appointment. Some stores also do rabbits! Please make sure to
call ahead, they don't take walk-ins.

February's Buns of the Month are Kelvin and Eli. Eli and Kelvin are brothers
who were part of the Fitchburg rescue in January 2007. These boys
have grown up together and they have become completely inseparable.
Eli has beautiful chocolate colored fur. Eli tends to be shy and although he is
larger than his brother, he looks to his smaller brother to protect him. Kelvin
has beautiful grey fur and very unique facial expressions when he gets excited.
The boys have great appetites and love their pellets, fresh salads, and their treats
– especially raisins! The boys like to share their salads and often end up nose to
nose at the middle of a piece of lettuce or kale. They always come running to the
cage door for any snack. The boys have lots of energy and love to come out and
play to show off their great jumps and sideways flips. They are very strong and
healthy rabbits. Even when they cannot come out to play they still do everything
together and always keep each other entertained. The boys would love to find an
active home with someone who is experienced with rabbits. They can be difficult
to pick up and would prefer an experienced bunny handler. After spending a
year with their foster parents, they’ve worked out the bunny kinks and have
developed good litterbox habits. Although they are strong rabbits, they are still
gentle and would do well interacting with the whole family. The boys cannot
wait to meet their new forever family.

Meet an HRN representative at one of our upcoming education events:

Happy New Year and welcome to the January e-bulletin from

the House Rabbit Network!

Last year was a successful one for us with 137 adoptions.

We also did 18 education events, sent out three newsletters and did well

with both our Yankee Candle and Flatbread fundraisers. Thank you to

everyone for your continued support! So far 2008 has started out well with

Watson being our first adoption on New Year's Day.

The Plymouth Rabbit Round Up continues. We received another phone call

this week about additional rabbits being spotted. It is now clear that

someone is releasing "excess" rabbits in the community. This past weekend

we were lucky enough to capture two. We know at least 4, possibly more,

remain. If you would like to assist us in capturing these rabbits, please

contact us! We can use more people for this round-up.

The House Rabbit Network has entered into a partnership with

Especially For Pets stores. Especially For Pets will trim your

pet's nails for a donation to charity. HRN is honored to be the chosen

charity for the first quarter of 2008! If you are looking for a place to

get your dog or cat's nails trimmed, call your local Especially for

Pets for an appointment. Some stores also do rabbits! Please make

sure to call ahead, they don't take walk-ins. HRN will also be holding

education tables at their stores on the following dates:

Jan 19 - Especially For Pets, Sudbury MA, 12-3

Jan 26 - Especially For Pets, Acton MA, 12-3

Feb 9 - Especially For Pets, Newton MA, 12-3

Feb 23 - Especially For Pets, Westboro MA, 12-3

Mar 8 - Especially For Pets, Medway MA, 12-3

Mar 15 - Especially For Pets, Wayland MA, 12-3

Our next volunteers meeting is Sunday Feb 10th at 1pm in Wilmington.

If you are interested in attending, contact us for more information.

January's bun of the month is Gisele! Gisele is one of the Fitchburg bunnies

who is still looking for a home. Weighing in at 8.5 pounds, she is a larger

girl but that just means there is more of her to love. Gisele can be shy at

first but will warm up to you and likes attention. Rearranging her cage is a

favorite past-time and she likes to toss around her toys. She also loves to

beg for treats, especially raisins. She has a gorgeous brown coat with soft

brown on her back and deep brown ears, nose and tail. Gisele has good

litter box habits. Do you have a home for this pretty girl?

How often do you search on-line? Every time you search, you can earn

money for HRN! Next time you need to look something up, go to

www.goodsearch.com. In the second box, type in House Rabbit Network

for your charity, and then search away! HRN gets a penny for every search,

and with all our members that can add up. It's a great way to support

HRN in your day to day activities.

Have a happy, healthy New Year and thank you for your support of the buns!

Season's Greetings and welcome to the December e-bulletin of
the House Rabbit Network!

It's that time of year when we all fantasize... could you possibly be
dreaming of a white bunny? Check out HRN's promotion, I'm Dreaming
of a White Bunny, to promote these wonderful bunnies. There are
many sweet white rabbits in need of good homes that are passed
over simply because they have pink eyes. So we are taking this
time of year to celebrate them! Keep checking back as we will have
a new image in a week.

During the holidays, please remember to keep your pets safe!
Trees sprayed with fire retardant, plants, garland and other items
can be harmful for your rabbit and other pets to eat. Not to mention
all the extra electrical cords and strands of lights! Keep unsafe
items away from bunny play areas.

Save those Shaws receipts! Shaws will donate 1% of the receipt
totals that we turn in. Please mail your receipts to our mail box.
HRN P.O. Box 2602 Woburn, MA 01888.
It is an easy way to help raise money for HRN and our rabbits!

Decembers Bunny of the Month is Zorro! Zorro was captured during
our ongoing rescue efforts in Plymouth. To date we have pulled in
over 17 rabbits, with another 12 that went to another rescue. Zorro
received his name because when he was captured, his nails left
some serious scratches on one of our volunteers! Despite his first
encounters with us humans, he is a really sweet bun. Open the cage
door and he immediately puts his head down for pats. He is gentle
and now is fine with being handled. Zorro is a large bun-
weighing in at 8-9 pounds! That just means there is more of him to
love. He has sleek black fur and excellent litter box habits. After living
the wild life, he is now looking for a home where he can be spoiled rotten.

shop. Check out www.iGive.com, get holiday shopping done and support the
rabbits all at the same time.

November's bunny of the month is Sonia!  Sonia originally came to HRN three years
ago when a rescue in Maryland was closing. She was adopted, but was recently
returned when her owner moved to the mid-west. Sonia is a very friendly bunny.
She is personable and outgoing. When she is out, she is checking everything out and
running all over the place. She enjoys jumping. When she is ready for a break, she
will lounge in high places, where she can look out over her territory. Sonia is self-assured
and has good litter box habits. Not to mention she is terribly cute!

As always, thank you for your support of the buns!
