This is a group hosted by Tony Simmons of The Turtle Ranch and dedicated to Houston area folks who love reptiles so that we can get to know each other and share information. This group may be used for rescue and adoption purposes as well as to offer extra husbandry items for free or at a reduced cost. Please take any monetary discussions offlist.
There is no specific topic, but the group is dedicated to caring for turtles and other reptiles. Above all this group is about reptile lovers building friendships. Please be courteous and treat other members as you'd like to be treated. Please use emoticons [smileys :), etc] to display emotions, because it is sometimes difficult to read tone of voice in written words.
Being rude or making personal attacks is grounds for removal from the group. In the case of disagreements, agree to disagree. {I am compelled to put that because of some of the other groups I've experienced.}
Turtle and tortoise husbandry hasn't undergone extensive scientific research, so many husbandry requirements are still unclear as to absolutes. Because of this, all posts are to be considered the personal opinions of the member making the post. Please check with as many sources as possible when searching for information.
The tortoise in the picture, Honda, is a group favorite. He survived the fire on Feb 4, 2005 that killed so many of Tony's other animals.
