K9KD is focused on nutritional support for canine kidney disease and it’s associated complications. The diet of a renal dog can seldom stay the same for long. Without an understanding of how to adjust the diet, we cannot respond to the predictable changes in tastes, preferences, and staging. K9KD is not a repository for recipes. We utilize those as examples. It is expected that while not all will agree on feeding methods and treatment protocols, all members will treat each other with respect in regard to individual opinions. This group was created for mutual support and help in extending quality of life for our beloved companions. Members often come to the group physically exhausted and emotionally fragile, & we strive to support each other with compassion. Flaming, disrespect, sarcasm & passive aggressive behavior is not permitted. An emotionally supportive environment is expected at all times. In order to fully benefit from the group experience, we require that each member submit a detailed questionnaire of their dog's medical history with respect to kidney disease.
