This Sunday is the Bird Expo in Brainerd at the Northland Arboretum.
We have the building from 12-5 but doors are open for the public from
1-4. We have macaws, sun, Indian Ring neck, senegal, lovebirds, green
cheeks, an umbrella too, some society finches, possibly gouldians,
tiels, a handfeeding info display and an incubation display. If you
have any personable pets that you would like to bring, please let me
know and bring them! I am hoping for an alexandrine and some english
budgies too.
One member has the DVD Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill...we plan to
have this running. We also will have coffee available for everyone and
pop for sale. We may have some baked goods for sale as well...anyone
interested in helping furnish baked goods/drinks, please let me know!
We had a great time visiting schools! It was an awesome day! We passed
out over 650 fliers to children/teachers and had a great response.
Crosby/Ironton even invited us back for a full day of sharing the
birds with all classes. It was great to see so many children
interested in birds! We have a new family in the Brainerd area with
some large and small birds and they have a son that is very interested
in visiting the club and learning! Cathy and Jon brought an umbrella
too and a blue and gold to visit the schools. Barbie and Kelli brought
their macaws as well and shared tricks, stories, and info about them.
They did a fantastic job and the kids really related to them! Bob and
Char helped get things started. Char still teaches occasionally for
St. Francis so she introduced the bird club and the birds to the kids
to get things started. THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR EFFORT! YOU DID
VERY WELL!
