LymphomaHeartDogs is a support group for people who have dogs that have been diagnosed with a type of canine cancer called lymphoma, lymphosarcoma or canine lymphoma. In order to belong to this group, your dog *MUST BE IN CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT*. We also welcome anyone whose dog that WAS in treatment (but has passed on) or owners of dogs who are *scheduled to begin* treatment. We discuss our dogs' progress and offer emotional support and advice to each other. If you have a dog with the specific canine cancer called canine lymphoma who is in chemotherapy, please join us! (Please mention your dog's chemotherapy protocol in your application to join.)
The photo (left) is of Don and Ace--his Greater Swiss Mountain Dog--who inspired me to start this group. Don publicized Ace's lymphoma and chemotherapy by writing to all his friends. Because of his emails, when my own dog, Q, was diagnosed--I *knew* that chemotherapy might give Q and I more quality time together. Don was active with Ace till the day Ace died. Even though Ace was on chemotherapy, his quality of life was excellent! They hiked, herded sheep, swam in their local lake and did cliff diving. Don and Ace *pursued life* rather than fleeing death--this is what all of us do, together, in this group. --Donna and Q (born 6-19-95, dx 7-20-04)
