Last popular back in the 1950's (remember Disney's "The Ugly Dachshund" movie?), the Great Dane breed is again moving up in popularity. Beginning with the "ScoobyDoo" movies, all Great Dane lovers have noticed Great Danes with "bit parts" in films, then a surge in print and TV advertising: Danes are promoting couches, beds, flooring, food - even a construction company! The Marmaduke movie stars a well-bred, AKC Champion Dane, and so offers an excellent opportunity for Dane-lovers to help prospective owners learn about Danes and decide if a Dane is the right companion for their lifestyle.
