Hello dog park friends!
The FDP Board wanted to let you know of some exciting news. This evening, we presented LFUCG Parks and Recreation with a donation of $10,000! This brings our total of over $56,000 given back to the Parks, for the purpose of building and maintaining off-leash areas! We absolutely could not have done this without YOUR support! We are very proud of this accomplishment, and hope that you are as well. Whether you have supported the organization with donation(s), membership, or just going to the dog parks, you have made a difference in this community. These dog parks are the only Park space that we know of that are used nearly 365 days a year!

We have made many naysayers into believers with our perseverance...In the words of Deputy Director of Parks Bill Carman, we have come a "FUR" piece. However...we know we have further to go!
Jacobson needs improvement, Masterson has a second phase to fence, Wellington needs to be fenced and all these parks needs amenities. We'll get there. We appreciate your patience while we work with Parks and Recreation to make plans for the future. Please know that we look at many different ways to spend the money, and try to come up with the best way to distribute and get the most for this organization. The board is comprised of people that go to Jacobson, Masterson Station and Coldstream...and also that can not wait for Wellington!! So, we want to go forward with it ALL!! We just have to work with Parks and Recreation to do so.
You may have read about dog parks that have been built in other cities, that have all kinds of amenities and such. Take pride that the dog parks in Lexington-Fayette County have been built by fairly small donations here and there...not big corporate sponsorships. Our main sponsors are locally owned businesses...
So, next time you go to the dog park...look around...and take pride that your donation, your Dog Paddle admission, or your simple moral support has made it possible.
We appreciate your support, and look forward to the next $50,000 to be given to the community.
Sincerely,
