Susan, I bought two cases of Tripe with the last buy that we had as a
group. I have plenty for my crew and would be willing to sell you 3
or 4 5lb tubes of Tripe to help get you over the hump until the next
group tripe order. Email me privately at lepaulson@... if
you are interested.

Susan-
Welcome to raw!!!
RE: Green Tripe - - can't say for sure if you can get it locally, I'd venture
to say you can't. I know you can't get "the good stuff" from
www.greentripe.com<http://www.greentripe.com/> locally, but you MIGHT be able to
find the canned stuff (not as good nutritionally). You might also ask around at
some of the smaller butcher shops to see if they can do anything for you. It's
difficult to find locally because in Minnesota, you cannot grind or process
tripe with the same equipment that is used for human food. Most butchers don't
want to mess with it.
That's why we started organizing group buys from California. Three times each
year we put an order together to have the frozen ground stuff shipped here from
CA. We buy from the www.greentripe.com<http://www.greentripe.com/>, so if you
go to their website, you can read all about their product. They will ship
individual orders, but you'll notice that shipping adds up very quickly. When
we do the group buys, we minimize that shipping cost. The only catch is that
you have to order a minimum of 1 case (40 pounds). If you have big dogs, that's
not a problem. If you're feeding 1 poodle or pug or chihuahua, that might be
cost prohibitive. In that case, we suggest you buddy up with someone and split
the case.
If you'd like me to send you a private email when we're ready to assemble the
order, just let me know.
Good luck with your dogs and let us know if we can be of more help to you.

Dear all-
Just want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Watch those
dogs and don't let 'em get too much to eat tomorrow!!
I also want to apologize to Yassy. She sent me a message about her specials
this week, but I didn't get them uploaded until today. I've been busy, we were
out of town last week - no access to email - and then we picked up an 8 week old
puppy on Monday. I'm having Thanksgiving at my house, so life's been a little
hectic this week. What was I thinking?
Check out the file section for Yassy's specials - I did upload the file this
morning.
I've also changed the picture on our homepage, my puppy isn't eating totally raw
yet, but he sure loves his tripe! As soon as I can catch a picture of him
chewing on a bone, I'll be sure to get it uploaded.
Again, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your pups!!!
Roseanne
I have just switched my 3 GSDs to a raw diet. I've been purchasing meats
through Raws for Paws, but am looking for other sources as well. Do you have
any suggestions?
I also read through the green tripe threads and will be ordering some online.
But I would like to buy some locally. Are there any suppliers in our area?
I appreciate any help I can get!

GP Important Closing - Dog Status
11/19/2009) - DGP Important Closing - Dog Status
Wisconsin State law provides that the greyhounds are to be adopted to new
homes, sent to another racetrack for racing purposes or returned to their
owners. Our kennel compound will remain open until all greyhounds are
properly placed.
We do not know at this current time how many greyhounds in total will become
available for adoption until we finish racing on December 31st, 2009.
We do currently have greyhounds available for adoption in our adoption
center. You are more than welcome to fill out an application at Dairyland or
online at our website www.dairylandgreyhoundpark.com under the adoption tab
at the top of the webpage.

The snopes link you send Claudia is not accurate. This is a real situation
in WI. This is not a shelter closing, this is a Greyhound racing track
closing.
See the e-mail from Anne Cassens to the group for more information.

Actually, it's not as dire as this. Several greyhound groups are
assisting Dairyland and they anticipate that they will be able to
collaborate so that none of the dogs are euthanized. I volunteer for
GPA-MN, and they're one of the groups working to make sure all these
dogs find a couch :-)

Dairyland Greyhound Racetrack Closing
An e-mail has been circulating recently with some figures and
statements that to the best of our knowledge contain outright bogus or
misleading information about the closing of Dairyland.
This is the information I can share with you all regarding this tracks
closure from our volunteers heavily involved in assisting these
greyhounds:
1) Currently the number of dogs at Dairyland (DGP) is unknown. A State
official indicated they would have a list ready in 2 weeks. 900 was
the number given in a recent newspaper article, but we anticipate that
number is high and the realistic number is somewhere between 300-500
dogs.
2) There is confirmation from the track veterinarian, who is a State
of Wisconsin employee, that no dogs will be left behind. The facility
will stay open as long as it takes to find adoption groups for all the
dogs that are left at DGP.
3) Hauls are being organized to move the pet dogs out of the track
prior to the closing to relieve some of the burden. This is going
smoothly. Racers can't be moved until January 1st, since racing will
continue until Dec. 31st. A haul going east through Ohio is scheduled
to leave Dec. 5th. Another haul is leaving for Canada around the same
time. Both of these hauls are going to groups that are approved to
accept dogs by the State of Wisconsin.
4) All of the regional adoption groups are all ready in communication
with each other and are strategizing how to move the dogs and increase
adoptions. Its a good team and confidence is high in their abilities
to get the job done. The groups are from WI, IL, MI, MN, IN, OH and IA
(the neighboring states), but we anticipate support from well behind
that perimeter.

euthanized, now is a great time to consider adopting a Greyhound. They
are very loving and laid back. They don't need the space people think

Palette looves poultry feet:Duck,chicken,pheasant..all poultry feet are her
favorite side dish and since it has natural source of
Glucosamine/Chondroitin,good for joint too. And,not thick bone and I think small
dogs can crunch them down ok.
You can give them one feet or so and can add boneless meat.Lamb ribs also soft
bone too.
Usually, you can find chicken feet at ethnic store.

Have you thought about chicken feet? My girls love them, I add one to all meat
meals to keep stools together. and they make a nice treat too. Just a thought.
If you have been feeding backs and necks this may be a nice change. I got the
last ones at raws for paws, had to ask for them.~Lynn

Guess I'll have to check out GTCWC. Knew there was one just haven't gotten

Hi JoAnn,
I met my first 2 whippet friends totally by chance at a dog park. Then 1 friend
kept telling me to get involved in lure coursing so I eventually did. That led
to straight-line racing and a 2nd whippet! I don't do other activities or
showing. I don't know of any meet ups either for whippets. There is a Greater
Twin Cities Whippet Club (GTCWC) also.
There is at least 1 other whippet owner here so perhaps someone else can add!
;)

Where do you live with your Whippety girls? Haven't really figured out how

And some groups are very particular(IG get togethers don't always allow
other dogs, etc) My other 2 aren't Whippets.
Well 1 one of them looks like something between a Whip and an IG, but he's a
rescue, so who knows.

If it was they need to get their act together.
This is from their website
The chicken backs we carry are called "stripped" backs. They are free range
chickens, hormone and antibiotic free. There is minimal skin and the
meat/bone ratio is very good. An added bonus is the kidneys are still
attached so your organ meat is provided.
If this is true and their personnel are telling people on the phone they're
not worth buying, they need to get their story straight.
However if the person on the phone is a sales person, they are of course
going to want to sell whichever product is going to make more money--backs,
40 lb. case @ .30/lb ($12.00) or wings which are expensive due to the
snack appeal Grade B 40 lbs. @ .70/lb.($28.00)
BTW a 40 lb. case of leg quarters is $23.00 Leg bones a a bit harder/denser

Thanks Louise. I had heard good things about them and have only been
waiting to try their stuff until I get a freezer to put it in. Used to feed
my other 2 Nature's Variety and it was great but soooo expensive.
I got the wee lad as a return to a breeder because the woman who had him
first had spent $1500 waiting for her vets to figure out what was wrong. I
got him home and started feeding him yogurt with his food, and viola--no
more too soft poos!!!

I have to agree with Jodi, when ordering backs or necks from Anderson's ask for
the Case farms ones. The necks are much bigger, no skin or fat. The Case
farms backs are very large but they do have skin and fat on them.

Has anyone ordered chicken backs from Anderson's in Roseville? I am wondering
if there is much meat on them or if they are mainly bones. My whippet girls are
so tired of chicken necks that they won't hardly touch them.
THANKS!
Jennifer

Hi,
Yes I do buy from Raw for Paws. They are great! Their's are not just
the skeleton with a little meat left on, I think that Raws for Paws
have a great selection of products and their backs are very appropriate.

P.S. Just a suggestion if you are having problems with a tummy try
removing the fat when first starting to feed the chicken and
gradually add small amounts back in to his tummy tolerance. If he has
issues pull back on the fat.

I buy chicken backs on a regular basis from Anderson. Lately, they are
really large. They have some meat, like most backs, and also some skin and
fat.

I called about the chicken backs and they said they are mostly bone. They
recommended chicken wings. I will also check about leg quarters.
Thanks!

Too far for me, I'm on the south west side.
I'm thinking of trying 'Raws for Paws'. http://rawsforpaws.com/ They say
they have a good meat-to-bone ratio on theirs.
Trying to settle my boy Whippets tummy, and would prefer to have all three
dogs on raw anyway.
Anyone purchased from them?

Seems to me when I wanted to order backs they told me they were mostly
carcass. I would call and ask them for sure. What about leg
quarters??

Hi: I bought 55 pounds of rabbit this summer. Skinned with head, feet, and
digestive track removed. (organs in)
My girls really didn't go crazy over them and I have 10 left (about 31 to
32 pounds). I need the freezer space so if you can get to NE Minneapolis with
$60 cash within the next 2 days, they are yours.
First come, first serve. jjc1@... Thanks Jim
Hi All,
For the book lovers out there, the clearance section at Dogwise
(www.dogwise.com) has some exceptional deals along with a great selection at
this time. Besides books, there are also some leashes, collars, Furminators
($16), toys and other supplies. Definitely worth checking out.
