Up on the downs near Arundel last week there were lots of larvae (at various
stages) feeding on thistles at the edge of an arable field.

yes, Martin; Mark Young, Bob Palmer and I saw some on Cirsium vulgare at Thorney
Island, W. Sussex, last week, and a few days earlier Mark, Ian Thirlwell and I
found vacated spinnings on Arctium sp. in Portsmouth.
