Got this from a member in another group, please pass this on to your groups as well. In Regards, Donna

The power of knowledge and information increases each day as technology advances. One technology that has actually been in use for several years is 'cookies'. They are used for information and tracking of the machines where they are logged. These 'cookies' are also know as Web Beacons. The following information is TRUE concerning Yahoo and their updated Privacy Policy.

WEB BEACONS TRACK YOU!

If you belong to ANY Yahoo Groups - including this one - be aware that Yahoo is now using "Web Beacons" to track every Yahoo Group user. It's similar to cookies, but allows Yahoo to record every website and every group you visit, even when you're not connected to Yahoo. Look at the updated Yahoo privacy statement.

Go to www.yahoo.com and scroll to the bottom of the screen. Find Privacy Policy and click it. (Since this is where I find the Privacy Policy, I think it must apply not only to groups but to any Yahoo Account one has.)

About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says WEB BEACONS.

Click on the phrase "Web Beacons". On the page that opens, find a paragraph entitled "Outside the Yahoo Network."

In that section find a little "Click Here to Opt Out" link that will
let you "opt-out" of their snooping. Be careful ! NOT to click on the next button shown. It is an "Opt Back In" button that, if clicked, will UNDO the opt-out.

Note that Yahoo's invasion of your privacy - and your ability to
opt-out of it - is not user-specific. It is specific to your machine
and browser(s). (Internet Explorer is a common browser, but there are others as well.) That means you will have to opt-out on every computer (and each browser) you use.

Please forward this to your other groups as you deem necessary
